At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Senate of Priests of the FalI River Diocese held at the Catholic Memorial Home on November 10, the assembled senators worked towards finalization of committee reports,

tackled internal developments and heard from relig.ious communities of priests working in the Diocese. The committees gave several reports regarding current work. Once proposals result from this work, it is hoped that far reaching effects will be felt in the Diocese as a whole. The Priestly Renewal Committee, for example, as currently in consultation with Stonehill College to explore possibilities of continuing education programs for the clergy. It is envisioned that such developments could result in continuing education workshops thereby bringing about a much needed opportunity for priests to continue their studies at the local level. Jusseaume, pastor of St. ,Mathieu Parish, Fall River, will be the new pastor of St. George Parish, · Westport. Rev. Rene G. Gauthier, pastor of St. Roch Parish, Fall River, will be the new pastor of St. Theresa Parish, New Bedford. Rev. Roland Bousquet, assistant pastor of St. Louis de France Parish and Notary-Secretary of the Diocesan Tribunal, will be the administrator of' St.. Roch Parish, Fall River. Rev. Roger L: Gagne, assistant pastor of St. Theresa Parish, South Attleboro, will become administrator of St. Mathieu Parish, Fall River. Rev. Ernest E. Blais, assistant pastor of St. Tl\eresa Parish New Bedford, becomes administrator pro tem of Sacred Heart Parish, New Bedford. Three priests will move to other parishes to continue their · duties as assistant pastors: Rev. Roger J. Morrissey, assistant pastor of St., Mathieu Parish will continue as assistant pastor of Notre' Dame Parish, FalI River. Father Gauthier Rev. Rene G. Gauthier, born in FalI River on April 3, 1924,

is the son of the late Ignace and the late Aurore (Champoux) Gauthier. After attending Notre Dame and Prevost High School, he studied for the priesthood at Joliette Seminary, Joliette, P.Q. Canada, and St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore. Ordained a priest on May 22, 1948, he' has served at St. Anthony of Padua, Sacred Heart and St. Hyacinth Parishes in New Bedford. On April 15, 1970 he became administrator of St. Roch Parish in Fall River. Fr. Jusseaume Born in Fall River on March 7, 1915, Rev. Lucien Jusseaume is the son of Clabience (Gregoire) Jusseaume and the late Octave Jusseaume. Tum to Page Two
