announced the appointment of Bishop-Elect Coleman as the new bishop of the diocese that encompasses southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands. Bishop-Elect Coleman, 64, has been the administrator of the Fall River diocese since October when Bishop Sean P. Six observe ordination • • anniversaries ~

Four celebrate their golden jubilees and two others observe their silver.

FALL RIVER - A chorbishop in the Maronite Rite and five priests of the Fall River diocese are celebrating anniversaries of ordination to the priesthood this year. Ordained in 1953 and marking 50th anniversaries as priests are Chor-Bishop Norman J. Ferris, Msgr. John J. Regan, Msgr. Henry T. Munroe and Father Jose A.F. dos Santos. Ordained in 1978 and celebrating 25'h anniversaries are Father Jon-Paul Gallant and Father Bernard Vanasse.

Golden Jubilarians Chor-Bishop Ferris, 75, is a native of Fall River. After local schooling he entered

the sert1inary and graduated from St. Charles College High School and St. Charles College in Catonsville, Md., and St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Md. He was ordained a priest for the Fall River diocese on May 23, 1953 in St.· Mary's Cathedral here by Bishop James L.Connolly. He was the first member of St. Anthony of the Desert Parish to enter the priesthood. He served as a parochial vicar at St. Mary's in Taunton for 17 years and then as parochial vicar at St. Margaret's in Buzzards Bay and at the Mission of St. Mary's in Onset. . It incorporates the altar stone taken from the former Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Last Supper frieze from the former Blessed Sacrament Church, and four angels from the former St. Patrick's Church. Catholic Charities Appeal: Its work seen bearing fruit NORTH DARTMOUTH - A substantial contribution to the ongoing Catholic Charities Appeal in the Fall River diocese by the Confirmation Retreat Team of students at UMass-Dartmouth, has inspired campaign officials. The Campus Ministry at the

university is one of the many agencies and apostolates of the diocese which depend on the annual spring season campaign for needed operating funds. "It's very gratifying when those who are beneficiaries of the services of the apostolates which
