WASHINGTON (NC)-Daniel L. McCormick of New Haven,

Conn., president of the National . Council of Catholic Men, has sent a telegram to President Nixon welcoming the news 'of his legislative program to combat pornography, congratulating him on taking the lead' in this "long-neglected area," and affirming NCCM's "vigorous support of this vitally important legislation." ' "Specifically, we intend to' give widest possible distribution to your proposals among our membership, and to stimulate them to actively participate with, you in moving towards an early enactment of those proposals," the telegram said. McCormick expressed the wish that all Catholics contact their Congressmen voicing support of the president's program. An interfaith· g'i'oup, New York-based, Morality in Media, also sent a telegram to President Nixon commending him for his stand on' obscene material and youth. "We are behind you, and feel' the country will now be on_the way .to solution of this grave problem," said the telegram signed by Rabbi Julius Neumann, Father Morton Hill, S.J., the Rev. Robert Wiltenburg, and Father Constantine Volaitis.
