Pukeatua School turns up the Christmas spirit

Pukeatua School pupils have learnt what Christmas is all about. Pupils were encouraged to pay it forward in their community this year, partnering with The Breeze to Pack the Bus. The Pack the Bus initiative sees a number of schools around Wellington help pack a bus full of food and toys for those who need it most at Christmas. It is an annual event that The

Breeze organises and helps children understand the importance of giving. T he bus visite d P u keat ua School on Thursday, November 30 and saw all 189 pupils take part in some way or another. Principal Jenni Adam says twenty big boxes and baskets were given, full of goodies from canned food to toys and toiletries. “We are always giving back to the community because the community gives to us. It reflects

our school values of Manaakitanga. All staff and students were enthusiastic about helping this cause and loved it when the bus arrived to collect their items,” Jenni says. “We’re thrilled with the efforts; there will be a lot of happy whanau receiving our gifts this Christmas.” Students and teachers were treated to a day of Christmas carols and even a visit from the man himself, Santa Claus.
