Mike King and Mike Grigg are about to continue their discussion over the the airwaves.

Comedian and mental health crusader Mike King has invited Mike Grigg onto his radio show after the pair clashed at a public meeting in Wainuiomata two weeks ago. On May 29 Mike King addressed a packed community centre with his message of suicide prevention, when Mr Grigg stood up and addressed him, before being accused of grandstanding. He was then told to sit down but left the room. He returned half an hour later and the pair left on good terms. The following day Mr King said he would consider putting Mr Grigg onto his Sunday evening talk show, The Nutters

Club, which airs on the ZB network, after the pair sorted out their differences. “I would like to invite Mike onto my radio show,” Mr King said. Mr Grigg was pleased to be invited and has accepted the invitation. “I thought it was quite awesome actually – but I don’t know what he really wants to talk to me about.” “I actually think the issue is far wider than youth suicide but also about family violence.” Hutt City Mayor Ray Wallace was pleased that the pair are on good terms after their disagreement at last month’s meeting “I am glad they have sorted it out given it was an excellent forum - Mike King was outstand-

ing in his engagement with the community. We were lucky to have someone of Mike King’s mana come to Wainuiomata to run this forum,” he said. Mr Grigg is a passionate advocate for disability rights and is only too pleased to voice his opinion over the airwaves. “We will have a good conversation about empathy, different impairment and human rights,” he said. Mr Grigg said he was pleased Mr King was ‘getting the ball rolling’ in discussing youth suicide. “He’s done a lot of good work - what he is trying to do is actually very good. What he is actually creating is community engagement – which is a good thing.”
