Beach wheelchair available Wellington City Council has recently purchased a Hippocampe beach wheelchair for children and adults with mobility issues. The wheelchair was purchased through the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation. It is now permanently based at the Freyberg Pool and Fitness Centre.

This beach wheelchair can be borrowed for free and complements the council’s fleet of mobility scooters which are available around the city. For people with mobility issues, getting out onto the beach or into the water can be quite a challenge, however, the beach wheelchair

allows people with mobility issues the opportunity to get into the sea. Freyberg Pool and Fitness Centre also has mobility parking available. A Hippocampe beach wheelchair is now available for free hire at the Freyberg Pool and Fitness Centre.

The current New Zealand flag, designed by Admiral Sir Albert Hastings Markham, KCB, was adopted in 1902.

Enrolled voters who do not receive their pack by then should visit elections.org.nz or call 0800 36 76 56 to get a replacement paper. The second referendum on the New Zealand flag began last week. More than three million voting packs will now be delivered to mailboxes across the country until tomorrow, chief electoral officer Robert Peden, said. “Your voting pack will include your voting paper, a return freepost envelope and full information on how to complete your paper. It will also include information about the two flag options voters will be choosing between.” The referendum runs until Thursday, March 24 and voters were asked to choose between the current New Zealand flag and Kyle Lockwood’s Silver Fern Flag, which was the preferred alternative design selected in the first referendum in late 2015.
