SPORT

Gearing up for Round the Bays People will be filling up their water bottles and strapping on their running shoes for next weekend’s Cigna Round the Bays event. The Wellington event on Sunday, February 21 takes advantage of the picturesque setting that winds its way around our inner city harbour. Event options include the Cigna Achilles Half Marathon, Bluebridge 10km,

6.5km Fun Run/Walk and the 6.5km Buggy Walk. Once participants cross the finish line they will be treated to a feast of live music, food stalls, the Southern Cross Family Zone, corporate marquee area, spot prizes and massage tents which all adds to the fantastic atmosphere on Kilbirnie Park. Entries close Friday, February 19 at midday.

ADVERTISING SALES OPPORTUNITY We’re looking for an enthusiastic motivated salesperson with skills to sell advertising solutions to both existing and new business clients for our community newspapers. A positive can do attitude with the drive and motivation to be the best at what you do. Strong communication, sales and planning skills with a good attention to detail.

Unique event hits the capital A local running group is bringing a unique event to Wellington this summer. RunFest, which will take place next weekend, will feature international and local running legends who will share their experiences to inspire and educate those keen on the sport. Among these ‘running legends’ will be Heather Anderson, an American trail runner best known for her adventures on the Appalachian Trail and Malcolm Law, who won the New Zealander of the Year Local Hero Award after scaling fifty mountain marathons in fifty days while raising funds for Mental Health Foundation. RunFest organiser, Ewa

Crazychick, said the event was a side-effect of the growing trail running community. She said she hoped it would encourage more people to take part in the sport. “It’s not necessarily about being faster – it’s about learning how to make running an adventure, a lifetime habit, how to push your limits and have fun on the trails at the same time.” RunFest is organised by a group of Wellington Running Meetup members and is the first such event to be held in New Zealand. The event will take place on Alexandra Rd behind the Wellington SPCA, on Wellington’s Green Belt.

Our sales team loves working with people who have the energy to reach personal targets and team goals, but who also have integrity, and the work ethic to deliver these outcomes. The perfect candidate will have: • Excellent phone manner • Highly motivated • Well presented • Driven and target oriented • Computer literate • Full driver’s license • Team player • Good sense of humour • Previous sales experience is a plus

Co-organiser Mike Brown said RunFest gave runners the opportunity to inspire others to find their own running adventure. “Wellington is a perfect location for such an event – just as Auckland has been called the city of sails, we think that Wellington should become the city of trails. “We want to encourage people to get out there and explore, but also to be smart about their running so that it’s sustainable over a long time,” he said.

A good remuneration package consisting of a base salary plus commission after a qualifying period. Please forward a current CV and covering letter to: Wellington Suburban Newspapers Stephan van Rensburg. email: stephan@wsn.co.nz Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit of at least 6 months.

RunFest will take place on Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28. Tickets are available at www.runfest.org.nz
