Scots College celebrates 100 years By Nikki Papatsoumas

This year Scots College will celebrate 100 years of educating boys in Wellington. Celebrations for the milestone event at the school in Strathmore will kick off next month Centenary co-ordinator Charlotte Wood has been organising events for the last decade. She said when she saw the position advertised for centenary co-ordinator she jumped at the opportunity. With a background in weddings and corporate events, Charlotte said

this was one of the largest celebrations she has worked on. However, she said she has enjoyed the challenge. “Being involved in something this big is amazing. It has been great to work with a team and the school. “It’s a privilege to be involved in something like this. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity.” Festivities will begin on February 2 with a whole school chapel service and a balloon release. Later that week the school will take part in a parade from Queen Margaret’s College to Parliament and a picnic

is organised. The celebrations will continue well into the year with more key dates planned for August. Charlotte said it was a great opportunity for the school community to come together. “People involved with the school over the last few years will have the opportunity to catch up, reminisce and re-connect with others in an institution that was so formidable for so many people.”  For more information on centenary events, head to www. scotscollege.school.nz
