Hutt Valley and Wainuiomata residents seem to be sluggish with recycling their unwanted Televisions even though they are encouraged to do so by Government. The region has been slow to take advantage of the Television TakeBack programme, launched by Minister for the Environment Amy Adams as part of the nationwide digital switchover in August. Just under 1500 old televisions have been collected

from the Lower Hutt so far however, the ministry is warning residents higher fees could be on the way for people yet to dispose of their old sets. The initiative is encouraging the public to recycle their unwanted televisions diverting them from landfills. Information on the location of the drop-off sites in and around the Wellington region can be found online at www.tvtakeback.govt.nz.
