TOOL THEFTS: Police are warning the public to be cautious about people offering second hand-tools for sale after a recent rise in thefts. Sergeant Craig Barker says police had received a number of reports recently of tools being stolen from vehicles and building sites. “People need to make sure anyone offering tools for sale is the legitimate owner of those tools and, if the price is too good to be true, chances are they could be stolen.”

MAN DIES IN QUAD BIKE CRASH: Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a quad bike on a property in the Brooklyn Valley, near Motueka, on Saturday. The crash occurred about 5.30pm and a 62 year old passenger in the vehicle died. He was Barry George Gibson. A crash investigation is under way and the death has been referred to the Coroner. MARKET DAY: The Nelson Market Day was held on Trafalgar St on Saturday. Held in conjunction with the Buskers Festival, this was the sixth year the market has been organised by Uniquely Nelson and featured over 80 stalls from jewellery and clothing, to food, books, candles, art and plants.
