Charities get proceeds from Eastgate present wrapping

„„ By Sarla Donovan THE PRESENT wrapping booth at Eastgate Shopping Centre offered something a bit different for busy Christmas shoppers this year. It was run by charities, which supplied volunteers to wrap presents for a gold coin donation – all of which went to help the cause. Last week the SPCA was running the booth, but centre manager Monique Burke said there had been various other groups involved at different times. “We have had Plunket, Aviva Family Violence Services, the Canterbury Charity Hospital and the City to Sumner Community Watch patrol. We like to help charities as much as we can; this was a way to provide a service to customers and the money goes to a good cause.” The centre provided the wrapping paper, tape and scissors, while the actual wrapping itself was done by charity volunteers.
