Selwyn teams aim to knock off Sefton Extended one day season gets under way By Gordon Findlater THE CRICKET season starts on Saturday with the opening round of the Canterbury Country premier one-day competition. Selwyn’s four premier clubs – Leeston-Southbridge, Weedons, Lincoln and South Malvern – will be looking to end the dominance that Sefton showed last season. The North Canterbury club won all three formats in last season’s Canterbury Country cricket competition. They defeated Leeston-Southbridge in both the one-day and twenty20 finals and Weedons in the twoday final. “Sefton will definitely be the team to beat again but there’s a number of teams that have what it takes to win this competition,” said Canterbury Country Cricket Association cricket manager Toby Doyle. There has been a change in format this summer.
