A celebration of our city’s multi-culturalism

his Saturday, the diversity of people and cultures found in our city will again be celebrated at the annual Culture Galore festival being held at Ray Blank Park. Lively and colourful, this multicultural festival will showcase the cultural diversity with food, arts and crafts, music and dance performances from the more than 80 cultures that call Christchurch home. Stage performances will range from Japanese drummers to colourful traditional dances and songs from Indonesia, Korea, The Philippines, Poland, China, Fiji, Russia and many more. These stunning performances will be complemented by a huge range of havea-go activities, where people will be invited to try their hand at things such as stone carving, flax weaving, origami, face painting, baseball hitting, bouncy castles,

police speed radar, henna tattoos, story time and more. The many food stalls will give festival goers the chance to sample appetising ethnic cuisines for a true flavour of the countries from where they originate. An event for the whole family to enjoy and experience, Culture Galore has been running in the community since 2001 and has grown cumulatively each year, with over 6000 people attending the 2016 event. The event is supported by the FendaltonWaimairi-Harewood and Halswell-HornbyRiccarton Community Boards. Event entry and activities are free; there is a cost for food. Event: Date: Time: Venue:

You’ve probably seen us on the back of the Nurse Maude cars, crossing the greater Christchurch area to provide care to some of the most vulnerable in our community, seven days a week, every day of the year. And, because we’re a very stylish lot here at Harcourts Holmwood, we also have regular clothing drives to help stock their hospice shops.

Just email sue.bramwell@nursemaude.org.nz or call her on 375 4288 and, so long as they’re in good saleable condition, she will arrange for a van to come around and take them all away. When you list your home with us, whether it’s because you’re moving home or dealing with an estate sale, we can take care of all that stuff you no longer want or need. Two great organisations working together for the benefit of one outstanding community.
