TEMPORARY CLOSURE: The Selwyn Gallery will shut down between Sunday and March 13.
Repairs temporarily close gallery DARFIELD’S Selwyn Gallery will pack up and shut down for six weeks, starting Sunday, as earthquake repairs are carried out on its building. Orion, which owns the building that houses the gallery, have requested the gallery be cleared prior to construction beginning on February 7. The gallery, which is run by the Malvern Com-
munity Arts Council, will reopen on March 13. Artworks and other gallery contents will be put into a storage container in the meantime. A statement from the arts council said the repairs were necessary to ensure the building was well maintained and safe for the future. “We will keep in touch as the earthquake repairs
are undertaken, and advise members if there are any changes to the schedule. Meantime, we appreciate your patience with the process.” Any artists who did not want their artwork kept in the storage container could arrange to collect them by contacting arts council administrator Rose Gerard no later than Saturday.
