// Coming off the back of their appearance at this year’s Sonisphere, alternative rockers InMe have released 4 highly successful studio albums to date and have toured with the likes of Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Serj Tankian, and Biffy Clyro as well as having played mainstage slots at Reading and Leeds festivals, amongst many other high profile appearances. They’ll be playing a special Winter tour which will see them perform an album in its entirety for each show, as they promote their ‘Best Of’ compilation due out late September. However for now you can catch them playing hits past and present on Wednesday 18th August.

It Prevails are one of the best melodic hardcore bands leading the fit-to-burst genre today. Hailing from Colorado in America they first toured the UK in 2009 and are coming back in big style, promoting their latest EP “Findings”. Support for the whole tour comes from Bournemouth based Heart in Hand whose latest track even features It Prevails front man Ian Pike. The tour is promising to be constantly flowing with big melodies and heart-felt screams that’ll leave the hairs on the back of your neck reaching for the nearest wall for months to come.

First Blood. First Blood need no introduction. Their mixture of beat down hardcore riffs and unique screeching vocals grabbed the attention of the masses in no time. Just a year after the release of their first EP they were releasing a split 7” with Blacklisted, and their first full-length cemented their position as one of the best when it was released through Trustkill Records (This Is Hell, Bullet For My Valentine) in 2006. Including ex-Terror bassist Carl Schwartz among their line-up, First Blood are sure to tear up The Joiners on this visit.

Polar Bear Club. WrongWayRound Promotions have delivered yet another impressive line-up this summer that see’s the much anticipated return of Polar Bear Club to The Joiners after last year’s hugely successful ‘WTFest’. Polar Bear Club are a band hugely recognised by all punk rock fans worldwide for their catchy pop punk hooks and inspiring sing-a-longs that create an indescribable live energy. With support coming from the hugely hyped Crazy Arm, genre mixing The Computers and finally the up and coming The Fallthrough this is a gig threatening to send the Punktastic forums into overload.

Not Advised.

Local band showcases aren’t hard to come by in Southampton, however it’s notoften that local pop punk heroes Not Advised return to the city. They were snapped up earlier this year by LAB Records and since then have released new mini album ‘After The Fight’ alongside one of their best singles to date ‘The World’s Not Ready’. Their critically acclaimed live shows are unmissable, especially when including guests They Sink Ships and fellow locals Kids Can’t Fly who’ll be throwing some horns in to the pop punk mixture.

Kele @ Southampton Uni // 03/07 Going solo after being in a successful indie band usually ends in tears and people shaking their heads in disappointment. However, Kele Okereke was the backbone of indie four piece Bloc Party, and now he’s taken those songs he had originally written amongst many others and created ‘The Boxer’, his first debut album, which was made to be played live and loud! The Cube at Southampton University was a perfect venue for Kele, who originally wanted small intimate venues to showcase his new material. The lighting at the venue fit perfectly with the dance led beats of ‘The Boxer’. It was clear to see the crowd were Bloc Party fans as after bass filled ‘Walk Tall’ followed by ‘On the Lam’ played, one fan excitedly shouted ‘BLOC PARTY’! ‘No no no that’s a different show’ replied Kele, looking down and grinning. There was no spite or malice towards him or Bloc Party as he continued to play songs from The Boxer.

‘Do you all want a bit of funk’? he asked before bursting into ‘The Other Side’ then the drum lead crowd pleaser ‘Everything You Wanted’ followed by pumping first single, ‘Tenderoni’. Kele settled into his solo role with such ease that we were able to forget about ‘that’ band and the past six years of hits. The familiar guitar strum of ‘Blue Light’ followed, soon reminding us as it morphed into ‘The Prayer’ and then ‘One More Chance’, showcasing all three previous albums seamlessly and effortlessly. ‘We have another rocket in our pocket’ Kele exclaimed during the encore, with a big grin still stretched across his face. This rocket was ‘A Weekend in the City’s’ hit ‘Flux’ and exploded the crowd into a dancing mosh frenzy. After his swift change in genres there’s nothing stopping this genius continuing to make hit after hit with or without Bloc Party.
