Wir sprechen erst einmal über Wasserflöhe. Damit kennt sich Katja Heubach nämlich bestens aus. Zur Genetik und dem Vorkommen der Winzlinge im Bodensee hat sie für ihre Diplomarbeit geforscht. Sind das nicht diese Urzeit-Krebse, die es früher als Gimmick der Yps-Hefte gab? „Sea Monkeys“? Die Naturwissenschaftlerin erklärt schmunzelnd, was es mit diesen Tieren auf sich hat. Überhaupt kann sie lebendig erklären, ohne weitschweifend zu dozieren, und lässt sich nicht aus der Ruhe bringen. Ob sie denn das Gras wachsen höre und wie es mit dem eigenen grünen Daumen sei? „Auf meinem Balkon pflege ich meine kleine grüne Ruhezone“, verrät die Stadtgärtnerin übers private Beet im Ostend. First of all, we talk about water fleas, or daphnia. Katja Heubach knows all about them. She researched the genetics and occurrence of these tiny creatures in Lake Constance for her diploma thesis. Aren’t they those primeval crayfish that used to be given away as a gimmick in the Yps comic book magazines? “Sea-Monkeys”? The natural scientist explains with a smile what these animals are all about. In general, she is able to explain things in a lively manner without rambling on and on, and she doesn’t let herself get flustered. Can she hear the grass grow and what about her own green fingers? “On my balcony, I cultivate my little green quiet zone,” is what the urban gardener reveals about her own private flower bed in the Ostend.
