Online Member Directory Increase Your Visibility to Clients All AESC member firms and consultants have a profile in the AESC’s online member directory. Researchers and Associates can also access the AESC database. Ensuring that your firm description and individual biography and functional / industry specialties are included on your profile is the key to gaining new business opportunities through the AESC. Clients of executive search use of the directory via the AESC’s CorporateConnect website for HR professionals and employers. Clients can also submit a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the AESC. The recipient list for the RFP is automatically generated based on your consultant profile in the directory.

Updating Your AESC Profile 1. Go to the AESC members website at http://members.aesc.org/eweb 2. Log-in on the left side navigation menu. • To request a password reminder, click the “forgot your password?” link to first verify if you have an existing account. Most AESC members already have an account in our system. If you do not have an account, please contact database@aesc.org. • Firm or office level changes can be emailed to database@aesc.org. 3. After you have logged-in, your profile information will appear in an editable format. If this form does not appear, click on the ‘My Account’ button on the top right. 4. Make note of the following: • Personal Information • Be sure to add a professional biography • You can also upload a photo if you wish • Click on the “Edit/Add Industry or Functional Specialties” button to edit your Industry or Functional Specialties. We recommend selecting only 3-4 specialties that are most applicable. Please contact database@aesc.org with any questions on editing your profile or to set up a new profile.

BlueSteps Database What is the BlueSteps Database?

BlueSteps Members by Region

BlueSteps is an online database of over 65,000 senior executives across a wide variety of industries and functions worldwide. These executives - who must earn a minimum of US$100,000 / €90,000 / ¥10,000,000 - pay a fee to join BlueSteps and upload their Career Profile and resume/CV into the database. All AESC Members have free, exclusive and unlimited access to search the BlueSteps database to idenfity pre-qualified and informed senior executives to act as both sources and candidates for your searches.

Identifying Sources and Candidates in the BlueSteps Database Searching within the BlueSteps database is powered by a leading industry search tool known as the “Executive Locator Tool.” This tool uses latent semantic analysis to compare resumes/CVs and other documents. Simply cut and paste your search requirements from a job description into the text search field to produce a succinct, ranked short list of candidates and sources, or search by specific criteria including industry, function, compensation level, geographic location, etc.

Search Assignments - Let Executives Come to You BlueSteps features an Opportunities page, where you can post details of your current search assignments. We can also e-mail suitable candidates within the BlueSteps database with details of your assignment, directing these high-level executives directly to your job description. This simple process saves time and effort in reaching out to senior level executives who may be relevant sources or candidates. AESC Events Annual Conferences Every year the AESC hosts two major conferences, an autumn conference in Europe and a spring conference in the Americas. Subscribe to the AESC RSS Feed Once the AESC receives a member’s announcment or research, the AESC publishes it to the AESC website. The website can be accessed by both members and non-members. Postings are also posted to the AESC’s RSS (Real Simple Synidication) feed. The RSS feed compiles every new announcement as it is posted to the website. AESC members and non-members can use the RSS feed tool to view all industry updates and announcements in a centralized location. Once the AESC receives your firm’s submissions, we will syndicate your news through all three platforms.

Updating Your Profile Updating Your Directory Profile Encouraging your consultants to keep their individual profiles up to date is the key to maximizing the potential of SearchAlert and the Member Directory as the information found in these profiles determines to whom an RFP is sent. Ideally each consultant should list industry or functional specialties. In the case of those who are generalists, they should select “generalist” from the drop down list and also add three or four areas of expertise.

Updating Your Firm’s Profile Maintaining a current profile and contact information for your firm will ensure that clients of executive search will be able to get in touch with you. To assist with this process, we recommend designating an individual to communicate with the AESC regarding changes, general office information, company biography and staff lists. Changes should be submitted to database@aesc.org.

Responding to all RFP’s Even if you don’t think a particular RFP is right for your company, have a consultant send a quick note to the client thanking them for the RFP. Clients are often looking to establish relationships and not just complete a one-off search. Therefore, give them a brief summary of your specialties for future reference and take advantage of the opportunity to make an introduction.
