The Renee Jones Empowerment Center would like to welcome Chatuni Hesso from Missouri State University!!

As a significant human rights concern, sex trafficking is also a public health problem that requires recognition from the medical community. Through working with the RJEC and other service providers in the community, Kristin... is conducting a health needs assessment of domestically sex trafficked women. In doing so, we can hopefully help agencies specify their services in order to encourage recovery among this population and further establish sex trafficking as public health problem. Kristin is thoroughly enjoying her work with the RJEC and hopes this assessment proves useful in the fight against human trafficking.

Responsibilities include: Developing a new survey for males-to collect data on the demand side of human trafficking (when and why do Men decide to solicit a prostitute) the first focus group has been scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2011. To expand the information collected locally Queen will also contact other agencies locally & nationally for additional information that can be included in the survey and data on best practices. Oversee and work on various assignments to ensure completion of defined task from Project Red Cord Task Force including developing the student ambassador program with local schools.

Responsibilities include: Revising Project Red Cord Pre & Post surveys- including conducting interviews, contacting other agencies locally & nationally who work with human trafficking victims to get input on their use of surveys and best practices. Chatuni will also conduct a focus group in April of 2011 to collect additional data for the new surveys.
