Stop hibernating because spring is in the air! Can you believe the frosty mornings and dark evenings are almost over? As the weather begins to warm up, now’s the perfect chance to celebrate new life and new beginnings. That’s why Matilda Wormwood is our cover girl this issue. No one embodies hope and a fresh start better than Roald Dahl’s precocious heroine. A treat for all ages in any season, watch as she outwits her uncaring parents and stands up to the most horrific headmistress ever in MATILDA THE MUSICAL. The wizarding world of Harry Potter is just as magical as spring. Fans of the books and films will want to experience it on stage with HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD. The twopart play not only continues the story of Harry, Ron and Hermione, but also features some of the most spectacular special effects ever seen.

Of course, in the West End you can celebrate the circle of life with DISNEY’S THE LION KING or shake off the heavy cobwebs of winter, like the revolutionary idealists in HAMILTON and LES MISÉRABLES. What’s more, this time of year means venturing outside for sports and special events. The ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW, Scotland’s biggest agricultural event, truly has something for everyone. In addition to showcasing the very best of rural life, there are farm animals to pet and feed – what other moo-tivation do you need? One of the biggest derby games is back when Bath Rugby face Wasps in THE CLASH at Twickenham Stadium. London Stadium will be getting out the pendants for Major League Baseball as MITEL & MLB PRESENT LONDON SERIES 2020 returns with a two-game series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.

Or join the fun when CHESTERTONS POLO IN THE PARK takes the social season by the reins.

Welcome

The seasonal shift is upon us… And finally, we tell you why you’ve got to check out TUTANKHAMUN: TREASURES OF THE GOLDEN PHARAOH before the exhibit returns to Egypt forever. Trust us, it’s not just for history lovers or people who dream of being tomb-raiding archaeologists. This is only a peek at some of the spring-sational choices in store for your group, so enjoy this issue and a season of live entertainment!

Five reasons to take your group to TUTANKHAMUN See the largest collection of King Tut’s treasures ever to leave Egypt TUTANKHAMUN: Treasures Of The Golden Pharaoh presented in London by Viking Cruises has arrived in the capital, causing love for the boy king to surge once again. People of all ages have been flocking to London’s Saatchi Gallery to see the incredible gold burial items along with other rare artefacts, which have never before been assembled together in this way.

Running until 3 May 2020, it’s an ideal outing for groups of all kinds – from families, friends and loved ones, to work colleagues and students. Considered the exhibition of a lifetime, don’t miss this incomparable cultural experience. A visit to TUTANKHAMUN will create a feeling of wonderment and memories to treasure for years to come, and here are five more reasons to check it out. This is the final world tour. Your chance to see these glittering world heritage objects is right now. TUTANKHAMUN is in the midst of travelling around the world. London is the third stop on the exhibition’s 10-city tour, following record-setting residencies in Los Angeles and Paris. At the conclusion of the tour, the artefacts will return to Cairo to be permanently housed with Tutankhamun’s full collection at the new Grand Egyptian Museum, which is currently under construction. So, this is your once-in-alifetime opportunity. Take it. These artefacts have the wow factor. The exhibition contains over 150 original artefacts from Tutankhamun’s 3,300-yearold tomb. This is the largest collection ever to have gone on tour, with 60 of them on display for the first time outside of Egypt. Among these historic treasures are a wooden guardian statue, gilded wooden bed, colossal quartzite statue of

the king and wooden armchair with ebony and ivory inlays. There’s also plenty of ornate jewellery including bands inlaid with carnelian, lapis and glass that had been wound around the linen of the mummy. It celebrates the approaching 100th anniversary of the tomb’s discovery. Tutankhamun captured imaginations globally when his tomb was unearthed by British explorer Howard Carter and financier Lord Carnarvon in 1922. An instant worldwide sensation, public fascination surrounding the boy king – and the only ancient Egyptian royal tomb ever found intact – and has continued for decades, with smaller exhibitions on tour in 1972 and 2007 drawing enormous crowds of well over one million visitors in London. “The centennial of one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history inspired us to create an exhibition like none before,” says John Norman, the managing director of exhibitions for IMG, which is responsible for producing TUTANKHAMUN

along with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities. “As millions get a final opportunity to see these ancient and exquisite objects in an immersive and personal context, we know Tutankhamun will continue to live large in the hearts of people around the world for generations to come.”

this exhibition transports you a bygone period where the most famous of the pharaohs comes alive. You’ll get to follow the boy king’s passage into everlasting life by exploring nine galleries that feature digital content, audio and custom soundscapes, contextual material and much more. All ages will have a fantastic day out. TUTANKHAMUN introduces one of the most legendary people who has ever existed to new generations. Compelling to audiences of all ages, it’s guaranteed to dazzle and delight. Imaginations are quickly ignited by all the magnificent glittering displays of lavishness and artistry.

The magic and mystery of ancient Egypt are unearthed. For anyone who’s ever dreamed of being an archaeologist, or more specifically, Indiana Jones,

What’s more, learning about his life through the artefacts perpetuates Tutankhamun’s immortality because, according to an Egyptian proverb, to speak his name “is to make him live again”.

ticketmaster.co.uk/groups

Hear the audience roar with joy at & JULIET, London’s “dazzlingly brilliant” (Evening Standard) new musical that’s packed with some of the biggest pop anthems of our time.

12

“A kind of raucous Shakespeare comedy in itself” (The Stage), & JULIET asks: what if Juliet’s famous ending was really just her beginning? What if she decided to choose her own fate? And what if she got over Romeo by running off to Paris with her best friends on a whirlwind journey of self-discovery and second chances? This is Juliet’s story now. Fabulously fresh and riotously funny, & JULIET explodes with the irresistible pop hits of legendary songwriter Max Martin, including …Baby One More Time, Since U Been Gone, Roar, Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) and Can’t Feel My Face. “One of the best new musicals in a while and then some” (WhatsOnStage) and with a soundtrack so good “no other West End production can compete” (The Sun), & JULIET proves that when it comes to love, there’s always life after Romeo.
