‘We will support and help every child to become the best they can possibly be’
Welcome from the Headteacher Welcome to Mill Rythe Junior School, a place where excellence, effort and happiness are valued in equal measure. At our school each child is valued and their unique set of skills and talents developed so that they can ‘be the best that they can be’. Our belief is that learning should be exciting and engaging. We want children to leave our school ready for the next stage in their education and with a real appetite for learning. We have high aspirations for every child that attends our school and a strong track record of achieving academic success. Alongside a stimulating and varied curriculum, we offer a range of sporting, musical and artistic enrichment activities. We place great emphasis on developing children’s personal skills and believe in the importance of developing kind, caring and courteous individuals. Behaviour in our school has been recognised as being outstanding and we offer children high quality care and pastoral support. We have strong systems in place to support children with additional learning needs and have two fully qualified Special Needs Co-ordinators in the school. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of Mill Rythe Junior School and of the children and staff who contribute so much to the life of the school. If you would like to find out more about the school or to arrange a visit please do not hesitate to contact us. Mr James Bowen
The Mill Rythe Five - 5 questions to ask yourself every day
1 What have I learnt today? 2 Have I worked hard? 3 Have I been the best I can be? 4 Have I been kind to others? 5 Have I laughed and smiled?
Where learning and achievement come first At Mill Rythe Junior school learning is at the heart of everything we do. Our children consistently achieve high academic standards and make excellent progress in the core curriculum subjects of reading, writing and maths. We believe that children should leave our school with a strong grasp of these basic skills so that they are ready for the next stage in their education. We also ensure that children are offered a rich and diverse curriculum, including a range of artistic, musical, creative and sporting opportunities.
A place of excellence We constantly challenge ourselves to ‘be the best that we can be’. We set ourselves high standards and expect the best of ourselves and each other. All our children benefit from the school’s excellent facilities. We are one of the few schools in Hampshire with its own indoor swimming pool. We also have a large playing field and a purpose built computer suite.
A caring and nurturing environment We provide a happy, caring environment where children can thrive. We have a nurturing ethos where children work together. From time to time children may need extra support or guidance and we have a strong pastoral support structure in place to ensure children are given the help they need. We value good manners and place a strong emphasis on ‘the little things that matter’. Whether saying please and thank you or holding the door open for others - acts of kindness are celebrated and promoted. Our school council ensures that the children have a strong voice in the life of the school.
Celebrating success Celebrating our children’s success is a key part of being a happy school. We celebrate excellent behaviour, special contributions our children have made and their achievements. Children are encouraged to develop and explore their own unique talents and gifts through our school curriculum and extracurricular activities. Children share their talents and successes in our weekly sharing assemblies.
We are proud of our children and of our successful school. We would encourage you to visit us and experience for yourself the happy, safe and caring atmosphere where we all work together to create a vibrant and stimulating learning environment.
