Can you be terrified and fearless? That is how we started Frantic Assembly. Now, 25 years on from that reckless leap into the unknown, Frantic Assembly is celebrated as one of the UK’s foremost theatre companies working today. Frantic Assembly has always been about more than the work on the stage. It is about the ethos of collaboration, of empowerment, of that constant desire to improve. It is about telling stories in a voice we don’t always hear and about finding talent in places we don’t always look. On the following pages are recent productions that celebrate the many aspects of the way we work; the creative collaborations; the experiments with formats; the desire to always connect with our audience. At times it is physically dynamic and brutal. At others it’s proudly tender and fragile. Our ambition is that we continue to learn and remain committed to making brave and bold theatre for our audiences worldwide.

Frantic Assembly's staging wizardry — BroadwayWorld

By Anna Jordan Directed by Neil Bettles

The Unreturning explores the profound effect that war has on young lives, and asks - what does coming home really mean? What is home? And when experience has shattered you into a million pieces, will home help to put you together again, or treat you as an ugly truth it does not want to confront?

Commissioned and produced by Frantic Assembly, Manchester International Festival, Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, Lyric Hammersmith and LIFT. Fatherland is a vivid, urgent and deeply personal portrait of 21stcentury England at the crossroads of past, present and future. Inspired by conversations with fathers and sons from the Creators home towns in the heart of the country, the show explores identity, nationality, masculinity – and what it means to belong in a world weighed down by the expectations of others.
