Safeguarding Ferneham Hall takes the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults very seriously. We are encompassed by Fareham Borough Council's Safeguarding Policy and guidance to ensure that all of our visitors receive the best possible experience when visiting Ferneham Hall. As part of our commitment to safeguarding, please be aware that children and young people (under the

age of 16 years old) are not permitted to attend public events at Ferneham Hall, as a lone’ member of the audience, without a responsible adult (someone aged 18 years and over) or parent/carer who is attending with them. The only exceptions are ‘SNAP’ events for young people between 11 and 16 years old, where activities are co-ordinated by Fareham Borough Council. These are supported with appropriately checked staff and volunteers, who are on hand to supervise.

Please be aware that in circumstances where Ferneham Hall is hired for an event which may involve children and young people; whether as guests or as performers, responsibility lies with the Hirer to manage their own safeguarding arrangements. For this reason, parents need to ensure that they are comfortable with measures the Hirer has put in place for any activity. Evidence of these arrangements will also be required from the Hirer; please be prepared to provide a copy of these at the time of booking.

Welcome Cup in Germany where they won two Golds, six Silvers and two Bronze medals for England.

Opened in 1982, Ferneham Hall celebrates 35 years of live entertainment in Fareham, so a warm welcome to your bumper 35th Autumn/Spring What’s On Guide. This year we welcome Clive Mantle (Holby City, Casualty, Vicar of Dibley) magically supported by Christian Lee (BGT Finalist) and Karis Anderson (British girl band Stooshe). The one and only Mark Siney is back by popular demand and special request as Widow Twankey. We are also proud to have Marie Clarke School of Dance back following their successes in the 2017 Dance World

Our younger audiences will have even more reasons to bring their parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters to Ferneham Hall this autumn to see The Sooty Show in September, followed by Oliver! in October, James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl in November, Aladdin in December and Milkshake! Live in February. So plenty of reasons to see your favourites live on stage - and not just on TV or DVD. Comedy is in abundance this season with our Laughter Live - Comedy Club now with audiences of over 600 and compered by local comedian James Alderson back after a summer break. Other comedy evenings in no particular order include Dirty Dusting with Crissy Rock, Jethro, Pam Ayres, Jim Davidson, and the hilarious Ned Boulting with Bikeology,

As always we have our talented local societies joining us with Fareham Musical Society productions of Our House, The Hollow, James and the Giant Peach and a Best of British compilation, Stage One Youth Theatre with Oliver! and South Downe Musical Society with Carousel. As we move towards Christmas don’t forget... Ferneham Hall Gift Vouchers make ideal gifts for Christmas as well as for Birthdays and even Easter for the person who has everything. HAVANT CHAMBER ORCHESTRA An evening of refined and delightful melody awaits in this programme at Ferneham Hall, including a pre-show talk and entertainment. Conductor: Robin Browning. • Pavane – Fauré • Masques et Bergamasques – Fauré • Duet Concertino for Clarinet, Bassoon, Strings and Harp – Richard Strauss Soloists: Robert Blanken, Richard Moore • Sospiri – Elgar • Symphony No. 5 in B flat – Schubert We are very excited to explore some more of the music of Richard Strauss and in the Duet Concertino, his last completed composition, we proudly feature our own clarinet and bassoon duo, Robert Blanken and Richard Moore. We surround it with the gentleness of works by Faure and Elgar, beginning the concert with Faure’s two beautiful pieces,

the Pavane and the Suite ‘Masques et Bergamasques’. The second half begins with the deep sigh of Elgar’s Sospiri – a heartfelt short piece for strings and harp. Then, to complete the programme, we take a trip back about one hundred years for the lightest of Schubert’s symphonies, number 5 in B flat. The symphony is something of an homage to Mozart and it took Schubert just about one month, in September 1816, to produce this incredibly elegant and melodious work. 6.30pm–7.00pm: Pre-concert talk in the auditorium 7.00pm–7.20pm: Pre-concert interlude in the Octagon Lounge by local music pupils

HAVANT CHAMBER ORCHESTRA Music of contrasting moods brings drama, joyfulness and melancholy to this programme of pieces spanning the development between the classical and romantic periods.

We are delighted to be performing the Schumann Piano Concerto with him. We continue our exploration of the work of Beethoven in heroic style with the Symphony No 3 – ‘Eroica’. The story of whether or not Beethoven wanted to dedicate this to Napoleon and whether or not he changed his mind continues to intrigue. Either way, it is a significant moment in the development of the symphony and in 2016, a survey for BBC Music Magazine of 151 conductors declared it to be the greatest symphony ever written!

Conductor: Robin Browning Overture in the Italian Style in D major – Schubert Piano Concerto in A minor – Schumann Soloist: Richard Uttley Symphony No 3 in E flat major, Eroica – Beethoven
