DIRTY GO CLAY BAND were in March 2016 awarded a work placement and artist in residence in Asger Jorn’s studio at Læsø. A historic and authentic house, with as much preservation from Jorn’s time as possible. During the stay, the group went exploring what was in the house: photographs, newspaper articles, clips, furniture all from Jorn’s time in the house. Based on the research they became curious about how Jorn’s last meal would have looked like? Therefore the group will perform a clay performance on the theme: Jorn’s Last Meal. The work is about festivity, colors, light and appetite for life. It is a tribute to friendship, gatherings, relations and meetings between people. For Asger Jorn, the community was a great value. A community where everyone had equal worth. Where hierarchies did not exist. But where you could meet everybody. With the work we want to focus and pay tribute to the same things as Jorn praised and cherished. The group is planning to build a long table - 200 x 110 cm - in which objects from Jorn’s house are recreated in clay, music instruments like Jorn favored playing in festive contexts, spirits, food and drinks, - all important elements in the life of Jorn. The performance will take place over 7 days and be an open invitation for people to come and watch and attend the party as social interaction is an important aspect of this happening. The work will subsequently be burned at Petersen Tegl and exhibited at Gallery NB until December 2017. The exhibition will be documented throughout the week. 17
