A Melbourne Central Catholic education DEVELOPS
“He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.” ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI
Dear Members of the Melbourne Central Catholic High School Family,
Dear Melbourne Central Catholic Community, We are pleased to share this annual report with the many kind and generous friends of Melbourne Central Catholic High School. Each of you is an integral part of our school community and we are blessed by your perpetual support.
Our annual report gives us an opportunity to thank you for partnering with us in our mission to provide the best education possible for our students. Know we value your support. At MCC, our administration, faculty, and staff have embraced the simple notion that we educate each student, each day by working to meet the varied needs of a diverse student body - needs that are academic, spiritual, and social.
More than at any other time in our 57-year tradition, we recognize the importance of educating the whole person and preparing our students to serve as leaders who will use their Catholic values to shape a better world.
Our students, teachers, parents and advocates work continuously to build this community as part of the body of Christ. The accomplishments of our students –sacrificing time, talent and treasure on our mission trips and local service projects and winning state championships – are highlighted in this report. These are just a few of the countless ways our students strive for and achieve excellence as they embrace and use their God given talents.
I continue to be amazed by the dedication our teachers and students give to their classes and by the excitement they bring to their activities. They seem to enjoy everything they do – a good indication that we are doing something right. There is a real sense that they care not only about themselves but also about others who need them.
These young student leaders go out into the world, knowing that like the parable of the mustard seed, they will grow strong and proud from the Catholic educational tradition that is so rich in our community, Church and Diocese. Our students are building relationships that will last beyond their lifetimes.
Our Annual Report also gives us another reason to be thankful because in it we recognize all those who have given so generously of their time, talent and treasure to assure that Melbourne Central Catholic High School remains the outstanding school that it is.
We hope you are as proud of our current students as we are, and that you share our accomplishments with your friends and relatives. The students of Melbourne Central Catholic High School remain grateful for your investment in them.
Stewardship exists on many levels and we are blessed to call so many of you stewards of MCC and our mission that is rooted in the charism of St. Francis of Assisi. Best wishes,
Peace and Goodwill,
Ernest D. Herrington, Jr. Principal

In February 2019, MCC missionaries had the opportunity to spend a week either in St. Croix or the Dominican Republic spreading God’s love and warm smiles. Chaperoned by Ms. Ball, Mr. and Mrs. Zinone, Mr. Reese, Ms. Flores, Fr. Karl Bergin and Fr. Mike Neeland, two groups of juniors and seniors delivered generous donations to the schools and people in the Caribbean. MCC students used their talents to teach the children STEM projects in chromatography and to strengthen their English-speaking skills. They provided storybooks to replenish their libraries and promote literacy. In St. Croix, the students visited disabled adults and repainted their homes, played at a home for foster children, and traveled into the mountains to deliver food they prepared to the poorest families and animals on the island. We are so thankful for the opportunity to share our gifts with others and look forward to sending missionaries back in future years.
The MCC partnership with Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School in Belfast, Ireland contributes to our campus-wide effort to prepare our students to live and succeed in a global society. For our September 2018 exchange with Aquinas, MCC students explored the rich history of Northern Ireland. During February 2019, we welcomed our special guests for their 11 day stay in Florida. This enriching experience created unbreakable bonds between the MCC group and the students and staff of Aquinas Grammar School.

The Annual Fund Gifts help us meet the critical needs of families requesting tuition assistance and impact all aspects of school operations. We receive gifts on every business day of the year. Any member of the MCC family may make a gift or pledge at any time during the year (in our annual report we will acknowledge gifts made during each fiscal year, July 1 – June 30).
