His striking photographs are acknowledged worldwide, and he has subsequently been honored by the World Press Organization, Pictures of the Year International, American Photography, and Communication Arts.

This Shiite man in Lahore has bloodied his back as part of a religious ritual. Taken by Ed Kashi, both this photograph and the one on the previous page can be seen in National Geographic.
