We hope you will join us on your educational journey, and on behalf of all staff at LCIBS I wish you a warm welcome.

foreword from the Dean & CEO WELCOME

On Behalf of the London College of International Business Studies, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our prospective students from around the globe. As a long established provider of International Business education, you can be assured of a high quality provision, exceptional academic support and an experienced teaching faculty.

FROM THE CEO —

One of the distinguishing factors of LCIBS is constant transformation in order to push educational institutions to the edge of innovation. We’ve revamped our blended learning model to allow you to study from our EcoSpaces around Africa. This global and virtual classroom allows you to connect with other future leaders around the world as well as maintain the advantages of a tight-knit small higher education institution. You’ll have a chance to connect both in person and online with your peers, working together to achieve your goals. LCIBS offers a unique and focused scope of programmes along with the flexibility to begin at multiple points in the year. Unlike many other UK based higher education institutions, LCIBS uses the Block System which blocks modules into intensive and focused study on a single subjects for several weeks rather than throughout an entire semester. This allows for not only the ability to start your studies without the wait, it also allows you to have a deeper understanding of the principles and concepts introduced. We believe that LCIBS offers you the flexibility and support you need to achieve your dreams. Our dedicated and experienced academic team are on hand at all times to ensure that your experience at LCIBS is not only enjoyable but successful. We hope you join us on this extraordinary journey to change the world.

FAQs

Section 13 FAQs —

Any Quest What do I need to pass? To achieve a passmark for an assessment or module, a student must achieve a grade of at least 40%.

In what language will courses and assessments be offered? Because we are a UK-based institution, our courses and assessments are offered in English.

Will I have to do a dissertation? Our BSc programme requires that you complete a dissertation towards the end of your studies. But don’t worry, we’ll be giving you the support and guidance you need to be successful!

How are lectures and modules structured? Each module is five weeks with lectures being three hours long. The three hours are often divided up into one hour of content delivery, one hour of exercises, and one hour of plenary. You’ll have group work during this time with your peers; however, there will also be individual work after and between sessions where you’ll be expected to work through given tasks on the online learning platform.

Can I work with others? Our lecturers often utilize group work in lectures, but we do expect you to complete your work independently. Plagiarism is a serious offense at LCIBS, and we expect students to adhere to our plagiarism policy. To assist and support students in establishing good academic practice and integrity, all students have access to Turnitin.

tions? What kinds of assessments will I have? Assessments take all sorts of forms at LCIBS: from presentations to case studies and reports to essays. We believe in assessments that will help you in the real world, so we focus heavily on real life examples. Often times, you can choose which business examples you’d like to focus on. Our assessments are meant to give all kinds of students the opportunity to show that you can excel.

How many assessments will I have in a module? Each module has at least two assessments with the first being a formative assessment that contributes to your overall marks around the 6th lecture. The second is a summative assignment at the end of the module.

Will I have exams? You will have some formal examinations at LCIBS, but the bulk of our assessments take other forms. The board of Examinations, a committee function within LCIBS, assesses student performance through coursework, examinations, or a combination of both. There are a number of regulations that you need to be aware of when taking an examination: Examinations are normally silent and therefore all students must keep quiet for the duration of the examination - No talking/ communicating with fellow students. Once you enter the examination room, you must have with you proof of ID and your student number - these will be needed for verification checking. Once you have entered the examination room you may not leave within the first 30 minutes or the last 30 minutes of the session, this is so you do not disturb other students. Examination materials - you must only bring in to the examination room the materials that you have been informed about prior to the sessions - some exams may be open book and therefore certain text and notes may be permitted. In closed book examinations, no additional study materials must be brought in to the examination- if you are unsure please check with the module leader, student services or student support. There must be no cheating – any suspicions of unfair practices will be thoroughly investigated. If you are found to be cheating or engaging in unfair practices, there are a number of penalties that could occur, up to being excluded from the college.
