fortification of old Prague city
Bastions of St. Benedict and St. Wenceslas (or bastions XIII and XIV) are the remaining part of the old Prague fortification. The former shape of the left bastion cut through the street in the recent past. The axis of this new street was facing the tower of St. Vitus Cathedral. This idea of axis, I used in the rest of my urbanistic design as well. The main axis of the entrance in the bastion of St. Wenceslas is exhibitions aimed, through the opening in the wall, to the same point in cagateway city model thedral as the axis of the new street- the tower where is the tomb of St. St. Wenceslas. axis As a program of buildings, I chose a gallery devoted Prague to the City of Prague for two reasons. Firstly, they schwarzplan materials are situated in the very heart of the city. Secondly, to fill the absence of such an exhibition space in contemporary never forget history Prague. The principle of the exhibition is based on the chosen topic. The visitor walks through the bastions and the space is inspired by the “Royal king route”. This is the route through the main Prague monument, which was held by the all czech new crowned kings. The route has its own space plane specification and openings which I repeated in the gallery - Linear Exhibition (Celetná Street), Free Area (Old Town Square), a column connecting the bastions (Charles Bridge), terraces (Nerudova Street) to the highest point offering the best view of the Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. The content of the exhibition is also divided into different periods of Czech history. The visitor goes through the main historical moments of the Czech Republic, from the past to the future. In the second bastion is displayed a physical model of Prague and interactive light model of Prague.

The project was situated in a very narrow and deep gap in an otherwise compact street front, in the center of Prague on PalackĂŠho bar street. It is quite surprising, that despite how lucrative the place is, there are not many accommodation possibilities. I designed rooms a four-star hotel, with seven floors, sixteen rooms, one duplex apartment, a terrace, a wellness center and a bar overlooking wellness Prague. The facade has elements of modern architecture - a lobby window extending over two floors, but I still wanted to preserve technical the historical appearance of the rest of the street. background

Nordbahn halle is the abandoned train station which architecture professor, Peter Fattinger, tries to convert into a community centre with coworking space, sport centres, relaxing areas etc.. There are many activities such as markets, bicycle competitions and lectures about urbanism. Regarding its surroundings, developers have started with a new development and I hope the building of Halle will remain an example of sustainability.

The semestral project was about the city as a platform - economical, social and urban. I analyzed start up and coworking place in Prague - Parallel Polis, where you can pay only with bitcoins and how these hub influence the city and the capital of city. Another important topic was gentrification.

For this reason municipal decided to connect them and create one big art platform called ART DISTRICT 7. The main effort is make the counterweight to the city center, which is overcrowded by tourists and improving attractiveness of district. Inspirations were art districts from abroad which already existed and function - Rotterdam: Museum quarter, Tilburg: Veemarktkwartier, Baltimore: Mount Vernon Cultural District.

GENTRIFICATION - FROM COMMUNITY TO COMMODITY Gentrification is caused by the movement of capital and its strategic use in the city for the purpose of generating profits. State/city support it → for instance investment in infrastructure, because it helps city as a whole. These provisions help SOME citizens, but not everyone. People who can not afford the gentrification gains have to moved, and they become citizens of the “second category”. Gentrification can lead to UNIFICATION. Problematic can be also concept of “creative cities”,where municipal try to attract the creative class (architects, designers..) and actively promoting art. Parallel to this, are originals artist forced out and the “fragile balance of creativity” starts to run out. Culture strategies are more focus on the wealthier social group and originals studios and art workshop are replaced by galleries. District start to be perceived as a marketable commodity rather than community. Way how to prevent gentrification is to connect all social group, immediately from the beginning of the proposal. Stability help to maintain community centers as well. Important is also collaboration both citizens, politicians and economists.

SUM UP Parallel Polis is not such an isolated island how they sometimes represent themselves. There are many connections to the district, to the city or even to the world. But I have to consider their real independence on the state. Like non-profit organization they refused subsidy from the state as well they refused electronic record of sales, despite the possibility that government should close their entrepreneurship. On the other hand they participate on project Art district 7, which is provided by municipal of district 7 (Prague/State) but are just passive participant (do not take subsidies..). In my opinion this project is a good way how to stop process of gentrification. Anyway it is very interesting to saw the changes from industrial poor district into the area full of young creative people and renovated architecture. Did I spend good time in Polis? Yes. Will I go there again? No. The reason is when you visit Parallel Polis, you become part of their political ideas of Anarcho-capitalism. And that is not my political way of thinking. Paradoxically it was them, who inspired me for this decision. I admire their conviction in their ideas and philosophy and I think appropriate be like them and do not go there, if your opinions differ.
st. AneĹžka church
The plot is situated in a conflicting area of two architectural styles - historical and modernist. The historical section includes typical lower level development, a united roof landscape and harmonically Mondrian collaborates with St. AneŞka church, founded in 1330 and one of the most famous Gothic monuments in Prague. On the other light hand, the modernist section (as the result of a big redevelopment of Prague at the beginning of 20. century) consists history of house blocks. scale My aim was to connect these two worlds and design comfortable housing in the city centre with an active living ground floor. I designed a residential building with six flats on each floor and a common terrace on the highest floor. Each flat has a balcony with either a view of the Vltava river or of Prague´s historical center. On the ground floor is an entrance to the building with a reception, a cafe and spaces for rent.
The main idea was preserve the street front and complete the mass of the street corners.
Building has two symetric jumps aside - from south to get bigger distance from opposite funcional building and from north to accentuate entrance to the house.
The mass of the building has two levels - lower one, which aims to the historical building of st. Anezka church and higher one aims to he corners of streets. Street line was completet with the cafe with glass facade, which was used also at winter garden at the highest floor.

The main inspiration for me were regular journeys in the tram. I watch people on the streets. They don´t know about me and behave totally people spontaneous. When they realize I watch them, they change their behaviour. From this reason I designed gallery, where the visitors awarness no judgment watch others and in the same moment become also the exhibjudgement different its. Principle is passing through the space where you have no idea from where, and who, is watching you (because of point of view one-way mirror) But you watch other people as well, so you light oscillate between spontaneous and suitable behaviour. Exhibition starts in dark hall from where visitor goes on journey to gallery more and more bright halls, until he finished in completely glazed and illuminated hall. Meanwhile his journey he maybe realized how unique on one side, and similar on the other, all people are.
Dark - you can´t see anything. Can anyone see you?
You can see heads Game starts - You can see first part - feet.
Walking throw the corridor - gradually show yourself
Watching people while they are gradually show themself
Light - you can see everything.. and everyone can see you.
