Kelsey Murphy College: Clemson University (2010) B.A. in English Year at Tennessee Tech: First year Coaching Experience: Tennessee Tech University: Graduate Assistant Coach — 2010-Present VolleyPerformance: Clinics Coach — 2008-2010 Tangent Volleyball: Co-Head Coach — 2006 Kelsey Murphy will begin her first year as the Tennessee Tech graduate assistant coach, following four seasons as the primary setter for the Clemson University volleyball team. ”We had several immediate responses for the open position,” said Tennessee Tech head coach John Blair. “Kelsey has a strong recommendation from her coach (Jolene Jordan Hoover) and we knew she would be a good fit for the program. “I definitely wanted to coach,” said Kelsey Murphy. “I wanted to be part of the game (volleyball) in some way. Tennessee Tech is a great program and coach Blair is a great coach.” Murphy attended Providence Catholic High in New Lenox, Ill., where she lettered in volleyball and served as a setter. She played her four collegiate seasons at Clemson University, helping the Tigers claim the conference championship. While at Clemson Murphy compiled 5,185 assists which ranked second on Clemson’s all-tie assists list. She also finished her career ranked eighth in digs and blocks with 1,270 and 436, respectively. Murphy received all-ACC and all-

region selections for 2007, 2008 and 2009 and received AVCA allAmerican honorable mentions from 200709. She also received the National Player of the Week award in 2008. After completing her four seasons at Clemson, Murphy earned her Bachelors Degree in English in the spring of 2010 and is currently studying for her masters in

English at Tennessee Tech. Outside of Clemson, Murphy has helped at various volleyball camps and clinics, most recently serving as a clinics coach at VolleyPerformance where she specifically worked with setters. In addition to her work at VolleyPerformance, Murphy also logged three years at the Clemson Volleyball Camp as a camp counselor where she taught kids about various techniques in volleyball.
