Before you begin: 1. Attend the orientation for adult assistants. 2. Understand: • the learning objectives of the classroom • the school, classroom rules. • the expectations of how you will assist: • rover • work 1:1 with students • lead small groups 3. Ask questions. 4. Observe the teacher: • getting/holding student attention • calling on students • handling transition times

Questioning Strategies Ask clear, concise, open-ended questions. Do not repeat or restate questions or answers. Think-Pair-Share. Use wait time. Randomly call on students. Ask follow-up questions. Brainstorm. Vary your questioning techniques.
