with references to Wallis Property being replaced by new Urban Quarter identity. This reflects our recent rebranding. As far as the continued development of Dunsborough Lakes is concerned nothing has changed. It’s all business as usual. We are still the same company, staffed by the same people with the same commitment to making Dunsborough Lakes a place you and your family can continue to be proud to call home. The coming months at the estate promise to be especially eventful. Construction has begun on the new Display Village (see front page) and work on a new park will soon be underway close to the future school precinct (see right). These are exciting additions that will help consolidate our position as the premier land estate in the region.

Escape into outer space A new family park adds yet another outdoor option for residents With its 18-hole golf course and collection of green spaces, Dunsborough Lakes is already well appointed with places to hang out in the open air – and by the end of winter residents will have another location to head for to get their fix of the great outdoors. In late July work will commence on a brand new landscaped park with picnic space and children’s play area, set amongst natural bushland and trees. “The park is located near the new school precinct, and will provide a great resource for parents and children both right now and when the school

opens in the near future,” says Urban Quarter Senior Development Manager David Barham. “The park will have a real ‘down south’ feel to it in keeping with the area, with feature rockwork threading through existing bush and clusters of native trees.” In addition, 43 brand new trees will also be planted alongside the existing mature flora together with more than 2,000 shrubs and extensive areas of turf. A total of 11 new homesites will directly overlook the park, which at around 7,000 square metres will be one of the largest on the estate.

Busselton airport upgrade Direct connections to Sydney and Melbourne are on the way after Busselton airport secured $60m of State funding. Interstate passengers are expected to begin travelling within two years. The airport will be upgraded to a Code 4c aerodrome serving the entire South-West of the State, opening up direct travel rather than current connections through Perth. Construction will begin in late 2016, with completion expected by mid-2018.

Megafauna Funshops are back for the holidays, offering kids of all ages a guided tour of Mammoth Cave and a chance to dig for animal bones like a real fossil-hunter. There’s a Megafauna big-screen show, and colouring tables for younger children. It’s also excellent value at $15 for all (adult price usually $22 for Mammoth Caves).

SPONSORSHIP

Marks, set... and off they go again! Swimmers, cyclists, runners and triathletes will step up to the challenge of Australia’s largest off-road triathlon and adventure race when the X-Adventure weekend returns to Dunsborough on 25-26 March 2017. The event will once again be sponsored and supported by Urban Quarter, developers of Dunsborough Lakes. The successful 2016 edition featured almost 1,500 entrants challenging themselves on Dunsborough’s spectacular wilderness course, which combines four different off-road races, and allows competitors of all levels to take part as individuals or in relay teams. The Groms Race welcomes kids aged eight and above to join in, making for a fabulous family weekend. The 2016 event saw competitors and crowds generating a terrific atmosphere at the mass swim start, and in the transition and finish areas – and the 2017 event is on course to be the biggest yet. Online entries for the 2017 event will open in October 2016, visit rapidascent.com.au for details.

GOLF

Brant-Richards conquers Dunsborough Lakes Rookie New South Wales pro Dale Brant-Richards has ignited his career with victory in the Urban Quarter Dunsborough Lakes Pro-Am. Brant-Richards fired a sensational six under par 66 to see off an elite field of 35 of Australia’s leading professionals, including PGA Tour Australasia winners Brad Moules and Stephen Dartnall. The professionals competed in teams completed by three amateurs, many of them Dunsborough Lakes residents and club members. It was the first Pro-Am held on the course for 15 years. “The event was superbly staged and we were proud to be part of it,” says Urban Quarter Managing Director, Jason Wallis. “The condition of the course and the quality of the field it attracted were a great credit to the efforts of everyone at the club.”

COMMUNITY

A home away from home Allyson & Graeme George work in Perth but spend weekends and holidays at their house in Dunsborough Lakes – what do they think of it so far? Why did you choose Dunsborough Lakes over other estates? Choosing the Lakes was an easy decision for my husband and I to make. The estate offers well priced blocks in a location second to none. The views across the golf course are just the tonic needed after a hectic week in Perth. What do you love about living here ? What I love best about the Lakes is the relaxed atmosphere, the close proximity to

the beach and the excellent shopping facilities that are also close by. What could be improved? That’s a difficult one to answer as the estate meets all my needs and is a perfect gem set in the sparkling shores of Dunsborough. The only thing that would benefit newcomers would be developer events designed to promote community –- cinema events on the golf course, coffee and cake and the golf club.

How was your purchase process with Urban Quarter? Having purchased land on the estate more than once I am pleased to say that Urban Quarter have managed each process seamlessly. All the staff I have dealt with have gone the extra yard to ensure that all my questions

were answered and paperwork has been processed effectively and efficiently. The staff demonstrate a care and attention to their clients that is second to none. Any advice for anyone thinking of moving to the estate? Dunsborough Lakes is a really wonderful place to live and we would recommend it to any family looking for a quality lifestyle in the area.

MARKET UPDATE

THE GREENS STAGE 18 20 LOTS

Geoff Bowman The colder months can sometimes trigger a cooling of interest in land sales but I’m happy to report that buyers have shown no sign of hibernating this winter! Sales remain strong and we have retained our position as the best performing land estate in the region.

Stage 2 at The Links was 90% sold within a week of release, and we are continuing to experience high demand pretty much across the board. Our latest release features 30 lots at The Greens (right). Attracted by its large lots (sizes average over 500sqm) and close proximity to the future primary school this release has drawn advance interest from large numbers of buyers with growing families to accommodate. Later in the year we have further exciting releases to look forward to, including some huge 1000sqm lots with bushland aspects and views to the hills – perfect for buyers looking to downsize from larger rural properties without losing the bushland feel.
