Dance/LA, a contemporary American dance group base much of their work on events in the LA area. They will appear on Saturday, February 26, at 8 p.m. in the dance studio.
Contemporary musicians high Iight arts festival series Contemporary music will highlight the third annual Palomar College Contemporary Arts Festival, continuing today through February 24, in G6. The festival, which began Monday is designed to bring to the community a cross-section of recent trends in modem music. Sponsored by the college department of community services, the concerts are short and informal, often including discussion of the music by the performers. The opening concert of the Festival on Monday was the Montagnana Trio, a clarinet, piano and cello ensemble which has performed many times in this country and Europe. Wednesday's concert featured Paul William Simons, a musician who is dedicated to the ''healing art of musical communication." The Music of Sound and Light today at noon, will add another dimension to new music. An unusual ensemble of percussion, clarinets and tympanum luminorum, the Music of Sound and Light presents musidal interaction between sound and light with the help of an opto-mechanical imagesynthesizing project or. Flute and harp music will be presented on Tuesday at 1 p.m. by
Bemard Ambros Batschelet and Christina Rhys. Batschelet, a native of Switzerland, is presently spending two years as a composer at UCSD Christina Rhys, from lnndon, is also visiting this country with her composer-husband, Roger March. SON OR, the final ensemble in the series, will perform at noon February 24. A new music ensemble, SONOR'S members are faculty members of UCSD. A wide range of 20th Century music will be presented. The series is open to the public free of charge.

A dynamic and magnetic public speaker, Sri Patricia is also a columnist and author. She frequently appears on radio and television. As a metaphysical film reviewer, Sri Patricia explores the "movie behind the movie," showing that there is often more there than what meets the eye. Her spiritual insights are also presented through ¡twblic film lectures and literature reviews. Her work in the field of astrology is expanding into a series of aquarian age astrology books and manuals. Currently underway is a manual explaining the new approaches and teachings in astrology, which will be-followed by a book of the 360 zodiac degrees, already being called by many astrologers as the "New Testament" of astrology. A third book is an Isis and Osiris textbook which explains the new "galactic energies" and their effect on the inhabitants of Planet Earth. Sri Patricia is a minister and temple director of Momingland, a non-profit center for new age teachings with centers in Escondido, lnng Beach, and Crestline, California. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Two intemationally-prominent experts in early childhood education will visit the Palomar campus today. Several sessions open to the public, especially to those working with children, are planned. Dr. Peter Smith from lnndon and Katherine Read Baker, La Jolla, will conduct an informal sharing and discussion period from 10 to 11 a.m. in the college conference room. A lecture on math and thinking skills for young children will be held from 1 to 2:30p.m. and repeated at 3 p.m. in room P-32. Experiences and growth with emphasis on the preschool child will be discussed by the development experts. Dr. Smith is Director of Primary Education in the Borough of Hillingdon. He is well-known for the development of informal infant schools in England. Job opportunities open to students
Osborne, Jess spark forensics team Competing against colleges and universities from the westem states, the Palomar Forensics Squad won second place sweepstakes in the university division of the Governor's Cup Invitational held recently in Sacramento. The team was led by Lisa Osbome and Steve Jess, who placed in the championship rounds of three different events. Championship finalists in speech analysis were Evie Payne, Chuck Van Frank, Penny Sherwood and
Osbome who placed second in the senior division. Steve Jess won the first place trophy in persuasive speaking. Other championship finalists were Julie lawson, Gene Zinn and Mary Sue Rafalko. Trophy winners in expository speaking were Osbome, Van Frank and John Theobald. Finalists in extemporaneous speaking were Zinn, lnri Lewis and Mary Mowrey, who won the second place trophy.
Jess placed second in the LincolnDouglas debate, losing the championship debate to Brigham Young University. Finally, Osbome placed second in senior oral interpretation, Mowrey placed third in after-dinner speaking and Jess was a championship finalist in senior impromptu speaking. The Palomar victory was the third consecutive sweepstakes for the 7677 squad.
