Believe In Magic
We’re suckers for anything that can help with our blackhead situation, so imagine our excitement when homegrown skincare brand Reveal A Secret (RAS) debuted with the Black Magic Blackheads Clearing Gel ($29)! Concocted with all-natural plant-based goodness – think witch hazel extract, tea tree oil and lemon extract, this gel acts as a natural exfoliant to help soften and cleanse clogged pores. Goodbye strawberry noses!
Spring Is In The Air
Maybelline eyeliners have always had a special spot in our makeup kits. And we have a feeling their newest Hyperink Liquid Liner ($18.90) and Everlasting Gel XXS ($12.90) will be no exception, especially with their 24 hour staying power, waterproof and smudge-proof capabilities.
If experiences could be packaged into makeup, then the limited Laura Mercier Joie De Vivre collection is your best bet. Inspired by Paris in Spring, get swept away with the universally flattering Windflush Colour Powder for Cheeks & Eyes ($68), sip coffee at a Parisian bistro while wearing the Velour Lovers Lip Colour ($42), and look at the Eiffel Tower through eyes lined with the Tightline Cake Eyeliner Repromote ($42). Ah, Paris.
Good Enough To Eat
What do soybeans, sake and bread yeast have in common? The ORBIS Koubijin Night Time Pack ($48), apparently. The Japanese skincare brand harnesses lactic acid, amino acids and low-molecular hyaluronic acid extracted from the above-mentioned ingredients into an overnight clarity mask to promote moisture retention, increase collagen production and improve skin radiance all at once.
New to makeup? The Everlasting Gel XXS will have your eyeliner staying mistake-free thanks to its 1.5mm precision-tip and botanical oil-infused gel formula. And the Hyperink Liquid Liner will help you achieve the most intricate of eyeliner looks thanks to its highly pigmented ink-in-film formulation and flexi-cushion tip that’ll have your peepers looking fab in just one stroke.
5 reasons why the 3M Nexcare Acne Patch will help you say goodbye to acne. Reason #1:
It sucks zits dry These patches pack a punch thanks to its hydrocolloid material. Upon application, the 3M Nexcare Acne Patch absorbs excess pus and sebum quickly from the blemish, unclogging pores and ridding acne without drying or scarring skin.
It’s hard to spot Flesh coloured and super thin, the 3M Nexcare Acne Patches blends into skin well – you could even wear it out without anyone noticing! The ladies can also apply makeup over the patches to conceal ‘em even better. Simply apply on clean skin and blend your foundation over it.
It is versatile Coming in three different variations – Ladies, Men and Thinner – the 3M Nexcare Acne Patches provide a variety that’ll suit your every need. For day use, reach for the Thinner version; it’s 40 per cent thinner than the regular patch, making it even more invisible than before!
Works on sensitive skin
It stops popping We all know zit-popping is bad, but most of us do it anyway. Acting as a protective cover to keep away itchy fingers, these acne patches also help to prevent contamination and infection till your pimple is eradicated!
Unlike topical acne treatments, the 3M Nexcare Acne Patches are drug-free and safe for sensitive skin. You won’t be seeing any irritation or breakouts from using these acne-fighters!
Choose from a variety of Nexcare Acne Patches for both men and women. For the ladies, there’s the Nexcare Acne Patch Ladies 36s for regular use at home or at night. There’s also the Nexcare Acne Patch Thinner 30s which is only 0.03cm thin for use during the day. For the men, there’s the Nexcare Acne Patch Mens 30s and 18s.
The 3M Nexcare Acne Patches (Ladies, Mens, Thinner) retail at $8.20 at personal care stores and leading supermarkets.

Play up your peepers with baby pink eyeliner. For a bright and fresh look, either skip eye shadow or stick to complementary tones like nudes or pinkish mauves. While we love the minimalistic pink liquid liner flick, you could smudge out creamy pencil liner for a softer look. If you’re not ready for full-out pink, sneak in pink accents atop your everyday black liner.

Get the look Glossy lids in this tropical heat seem more pretty than practical, but its whole messy and smudged effect makes it more forgiving. And it’s quite simple to achieve: apply your usual eye makeup and dab on clear gloss or balm, while using patting motions instead of smearing it onto your lids as the oily texture will swipe away your makeup.

2017 brings the K-pop ladies out with first-gen queens S.E.S’s grand reunion, exciting solo debuts and other hotly-tipped newcomers set to make a splash. We take a look at the most anticipated releases slated this year. By Chew Hui Ling
EXID Early 2017
What we know: As much as we’re rooting for an EXID comeback, it wouldn’t be complete without leader Solji, who is currently taking a break from promotional activities due to recent health issues. Kudos to Hyerin for taking charge of the crazy high notes during Solji’s absence! Sources disclosed that it’s possible to see EXID as a whole within the first half the year, but until then, LEGOs will just have to get their OT5 fix via their new Chinese music video for ‘Cream’.
END JAN 2017
What we say: It’s not a drill: the legendary girl group has finally reunited to give fans the best gift ever for their 20th anniversary! It’s hard to believe that it’s been two entire decades since their ‘I’m Your Girl’ days – these K-pop darlings still look as beautiful as ever in their comeback music videos for ‘Remember’ and ‘Paradise’. ‘Remember’ blasts nostalgia from the get-go while ‘Paradise’ takes listeners on a blast to the past with glittery ’70s disco rhythms – think loud colours, funky beats and sparkly disco balls that will have you bopping along from start to finish.

What we know: DAI5Ys have been waiting for a Girl’s Day comeback since their last fulllength record Love back in 2015, but it looks like they’re gonna have to sit tight. Originally planning to return with an album in 2016, the quartet has since pushed back their comeback several times – possibly due to Dream T Entertainment and Elektromotive Group’s recent merger. And with news of their contract expiration edging closer, we couldn’t help but worry about it being the four-piece’s final release before their rumoured disbandment this July. On a lighter note, Minah did assure fans that she hopes “Girl’s Day would remain for a long time” in a previous interview, so let’s hope a renewal is in the cards!
as talented a songwriter as ed sheeran is a singer, take a look at some of the best chart-toppers the ‘shape of you’ hit-maker has penned for other artistes. By Chew Hui Ling
‘Love Yourself’ – Justin Bieber
We all know that Ed Sheeran had a hand in writing Justin Bieber’s behemoth smash for his Purpose album, but can you believe this enormously successful ditty was actually a reject chucked out of Ed’s upcoming record, Divide? “Going from a song that would have never been released to [being] the biggest song of , it just shows you that you shouldn’t always write stuff off,” Ed divulged in a recent interview, but also making sure to give Biebs credit for working his magic on it. And the rest is history.
‘Little Things’ – One Direction
Before One Direction won over the hearts of every boyband-lovin’ fan out there, our resident songwriting genius was already paving the way for the Brit quintet’s impending global takeover – one song at a time, including ‘Moments’, ‘Over Again’ and ‘18’. Most memorable was ‘Little Things’, which Ed revealed that it contained some of his favourite lyrics ever. He admitted to penning the emotive ballad with his former flame when he was 17, but didn’t mind giving it to 1D in a bid to “try something different”. What a pal!
‘Dark Times’ – The Weeknd
What happens when a moody starboy and a wholesome popstar rub shoulders at a party? Brace yourselves for the musical wonder that is ‘Dark Times’, an acoustic number off The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind The Madness album that materialised after a revelry-filled night out together. And the ‘Starboy’ crooner had plenty of lovely things to say about his partner: “I’ve written with a lot of people in my life, but [Ed] is the fastest and most talented songwriter I’ve ever worked with. If we stayed in the studio another week, we could’ve had a full album.” For the love of music, make it happen!
‘Cold Water ’ – Major Lazer (feat. Justin Bieber & MØ)
People are digging the new Justin Bieber sound right now, but he wouldn’t have done it without the help of Ed – and the funny thing is the latter wasn’t even aware that he’d created another hit for the Canadian heartthrob! “[‘Cold Water’] was a song I must’ve half-written somewhere,” the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ singer confessed, “And then the song came out, became number one and I was like ‘That kind of sounds like me. Oh wait, it was me.’” Geez, just imagine how amazing it would sound with Ed’s soothing pipes in the chorus...
‘I Was Made For Loving You’ – Tori Kelly
Tori Kelly has built up quite a name for herself since her American Idol days at 16, but it wasn’t until recently that the curly-haired sweetheart really blew up over the airwaves. One of the tracks that got us into the Tori goodness was her sizzling ballad with Ed, which was so undeniably romantic that fans couldn’t help but wonder if sparks flew between the twosome. But Tori was quick to squash the rumours, asserting that he’s “someone I consider a friend and even a mentor”. Oh well – let’s just sit back and listen to some good music, shall we?
‘Everything Has Changed’ – Taylor Swift
This one’s a classic, but we’d be doing the besties a disservice if this fan favourite didn’t make the list. It all started when Ed learned about T-Swift doodling his song lyrics on her arm during a show, before promptly collaborating with the golden girl on ‘Everything Has Changed’ for her Red album. Nothing seemed to have changed for the duo though, who proved to be as chummy as ever with sweet birthday tweets, support messages and all. Also, can we just say that Tay-Tay fangirling over ‘Shape of You’ on Instagram was downright adorable?
Photo: Warner Music Singapore
‘Tattoo’ – Hilary Duff
Probably only Ed Sheeran could get a pop diva like Hilary Duff to climb out of bed at midnight to record a song, and all it took was two hours for the power duo to produce this glorious gem of a track titled ‘Tattoo’. “He came into the vocal booth with me and I was really intimidated because they don’t normally do that,” she recalled. “So I kept being like, ‘You’re Ed Sheeran and I’m singing the song that you wrote and I want to do right by it’.” Although it didn’t make the final cut for her Breathe In. Breathe Out. album, Hilary did release a live acoustic performance of the unreleased track so be sure to check it out!
While you’re still playing ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill ’ on repeat, don’t forget to keep a lookout for Ed Sheeran’s upcoming album Divide ‘cause it ’s gonna be epic – dopplegangers, Irish dancers, John Mayer collabs and all.

If you penned a letter to the person you loved the most, what would it say? Some feelings are hard to express, let your written words do the talking.
Love is Unconditional
You’re My Asteroid It’s pretty undeniable that you’ve made a tremendous impact on my life. Like an ‘asteroid hitting Earth’ kind of impact. I know that seems like a bad thing but I assure you it isn’t. We really should have asteroid showers more often; drastic change is good. Sometimes I wish I had met you sooner, like in lower secondary or something. It’s kind of a shame that we spent only one year in school together. Imagine the amount of damage that could have been done if we had four years. I hope you know that when I say ‘damage’, I mean it in the most affectionate manner possible. Kudos to us though, for making the most out of only a year. This is the part where you roll your eyes, if you have not already begun. Anyway, as you can tell, this is obviously a heartfelt letter and those nostalgic tears should be filling your eyes to the brim. Right. About. Now. Or at the very least I hope I’m still as entertaining as ever.
Photos: Getty images, Sadhana Jayaseelan
Jokes aside, I really mean it when I say that you’re one of the few people who helped drive my life in the right direction, and I’ve reserved a section of my heart just for you. Thank you for walking into my life nearly seven years ago, and for staying put. I need you to know that I appreciate every single time you’ve purposefully corrected my grammar and spelling, and for kicking me (and other people) out of class multiple times because bailing on English homework was trending. It takes way more effort to call people out on their shortcomings and pinpoint mistakes. Especially if they don’t directly impact you, letting things slip is always easier. So what I’m trying to say is that I sincerely love you for everything you’ve done for me and my lovely classmates from 4E2 (batch of 2009). You know we all love you, from the bottom of our hearts.
When I was young, I kept hearing the saying “A parents’ love is unconditional” but I never understood the meaning behind it. Growing up with three other siblings, I used to think that it’s your duty to provide me what I need, in terms of education and basic necessities. It’s mummy’s duty to wake me up and make me breakfast, papa’s duty to ensure my family is well-fed and to buy me the latest mobile phone. It wasn’t until I went abroad for my studies in Australia that I realised how much I’ve taken my parents for granted. There, I had no one to turn to and rely on. Nobody was around to wake me up in the morning, prepare dinner for me after a long day, or to change my bedsheets when I’m super tired. Now that I’m back in my homeland, I’ve begun to see mummy and papa in a new light. I learned to appreciate the little things that you did for me. It was never mummy’s duty to wake me up every morning and ensure I get to school on time, nor was it papa’s duty to buy me a new phone. But you did it anyway – to make sure I get the best education, and to make me look ‘cool’ in front of my friends with the latest gadgets. Now that I’m in my twenties, I finally understood the sacrifices you’ve made for the family. You sacrificed your hobbies or buying a fancy new phone, so you can save up for our university fees or to bring us for a holiday. Life is unpredictable and they can’t be there forever. So I just want to say: I love you mummy and papa. Thank you for your unconditional love for us, putting a roof over our head and food on our table. I’m grateful and fortunate to have you.

It’s completely fine to keep your options open, but take extra care not to hurt anyone by leading them on.
Cool and logical
While you’re not looking S for anything too serious at the moment, you wouldn’t just date anyone willy-nilly. You enjoy spending time getting to know the other person, but you prefer to analyse the situation before deciding to move forward. While you’re headed in the right direction, don’t be afraid to have a little fun at times – create awesome memories while you’re at it.
Loyal and Devoted
You view dating as a way to find someone to build a future with. Romantic dates and meaningful conversations are your idea of a perfect date, and you won’t hesitate to turn down someone who doesn’t seem to be long-term relationship material. Likewise, your tendency to get too serious too soon might scare a potentially great partner away while setting yourself up for disappointment. Take baby steps; there’s no rush!
