RFID SYSTEM: ITS TYPES, ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES Introductions: RFID system Radio frequency identification or RFID systems is use for identification of an object or person and wirelessly transmit the data about the same. RFID systems comprises of antenna, chip, reader and battery in few types of RFID tags. RFID is mainly used for transmitting information. RFID tags have encoded information, which it transfers through antenna when it comes in a proper frequency of the reader. On the other hand RFID tag reader decodes the information or use it just as a reference and gets the detail information from the database. Three types of RFID There are mainly three types of RFID tags. Passive tag, Active tag and semi-passive tag. The active tag has a small chip and antenna. When this active tag gets a proper frequency the encoded information gets transferred to the reader. These types of tags do not require any sort of battery or electrical support. Furthermore, it use maximum in Indian industry as it is not costly to manufacture thus available in affordable rates. However, the disadvantage of such type of tags is it works in only short distance. It gets frequency only in limited area.
Another type of tag is active tag. It has small chip like passive tag and also possess battery which helps in broadcasting information. It dent need scanner but it continuously updates about the tagged object. Unlike passive tags it works in long distance also. However, there is a disadvantage of active tag that that it is quite costly and people use it less or for high profile use only. The third and last type of RFID tag is semi-passive tag. It gives you advantageous of both the above said tags. This tag has a battery but this battery supply power only when there is proper frequency available. In remaining time this battery gets recharged. This is also cheaper option for using widely.
RFID system in Indian industries RFID technology in India has become very popularly in last few decades. In not only used in retail or manufacturer industry but in pharmaceutical, science projects, R&D research,
transportation, defense and many other industries have become popular. Most important the growing consumption and retail industry in India have popularize the use of RFID tags. There are several RFID manufacturers in India which supply various types of RFID Tags to this industry. There few advantages of RFID tag: 1) Work efficiency: RFID tags do not need to be uncovered for transmitting the codes. It can work under fabric, plastic, woods and even human bodies. It is also able to track moving objects and lessen the human faults. 2) ROI: It is costly to implement then barcode but its results shows that it is worth spending money. 3) It is difficult to damage it. It is embedded in plastic which helps it to survive in harsh environments like moisture, high temperature and it survive when exposed to chemical. Just like advantage there are few disadvantages of RDIF tags: 1) It is quite costly as compared to barcode system. 2) When many tags and reader comes under same frequency the collision is common problem which fails the RFID tag system. 3) High frequency directional antenna is used for scanning sensitive tags by fraud people.
