eneath all of the metal and the smooth moving parts, the hybrid engines that are bringing the US automotive industry back online are only possible thanks to innovative software applications. Unknown to some people, there are millions of lines of codes in today’s automobiles, thousands of lines of code in your coffee maker and hundreds of lines of code in your running shoes. The age where software development was just for geeks has long passed. It’s like saying that understanding how to pump gasoline is just for mechanics. It is time to enable the self serve pump for IT. In the 1500’s a family that did not have a farmer in it or someone to
farm for them was a doomed family. In the 1900’s the world was based on hard goods and manufacturing. A job at the factory or owning a steel mill meant great success and stability. That was yesterday. The world we live in today is fast paced, global and led by the speed of information. Actually, our world has always been dictated by the flow of information. In the past, a powerful few were able to restrict information from the masses to control the outcomes of their actions. In today’s fast paced world a piece of film caught by the cell phone of a user on the ground gives us deeper perspectives on current events then CNN, Fox News or BBC could ever hope to deliver. A message that has strength and resonates with the people can be sent by a slim curly
headed nerd in an instant. It then can be viewed, understood and acted upon, not by an entire nation, but an entire region of the world. The case of Wael Ghonim, the now known instigator of what the West calls the ‘Arab Spring’ will go down in history. It is an exercise in the Internet’s power to supercharge the will of the people in true democratic fashion. The power of the people leans towards progress and prosperity. It is time to accept that in today’s world, a Techie with a computer and an idea can enable freedom of choice, the growth of the economy and change the course of the world. We should take these events as a wake-up call that the power to change the world has shifted into the hands of the Techies.
From the United States to Egypt innovations in software are recreating and redefining the political and economical landscapes.

FLY HIGH MOLDOVA GeniusCorps chapter Moldova , home to the world’s first Twitter Revolution, comes online with high flying Nicolay Ciobanu
f asked, most people wouldn’t know what Moldova was. Nestled between Romania and the Ukraine it was once a country ruled by communism but now fighting it’s way to a more democratic way of life. A country where the youth of the society took a stand demanding change. A change from the old generation to a new generation. Moldova was the site of the world’s first twitter revolution. Four days after a corrupt election of a communist president, a group of
determined youth staged a protest turned revolution and as a result the parliament building was burned down and a democratic president was eventually elected. These actions were possible because of social media. The government has seen the change that social media and technology can bring. In the e-government office, notes on the board issued the use of social media to sway and influence the young people of Moldova.
Nicolay prepares for his first jump in the United States. Unlike Moldova the jump is over 5,000 feet higher
Moldova is now going from a hands on, manual government to a more technology integrated and savvy form of government.
Like the Moldova chapter, With minimal instruction Nicolay adapts to the change and sails in from the plane

Bornglobal.tv Of course we had to show off our work first. Bornglobal.tv is a first person television show that catalogues the business and leisurely global travels of who else, me. Get insight on the places less travelled that are very welcoming for Techies.
Airbnb.com If your are like me then staying in a hotel is a huge drain on your wallet just to live in a small room and be charged top dollar for everything. I use Airbnb.com to rent rooms and houses from other people throughout the world. It is by far the best service of its kind.
Skyscanner.com This site has been a dream. Punch in a month to leave and a month to return and Skyscanner aggregates data from hundreds of travel sites to tell you the best day to leave to get the best price. Leaving the US, I buy a one way ticket and use Skyscanner to get around and back.
Hipmunk.com Hipmunk is my backup for Skyscanner. They do this awesome sort by agony vs. time or money that lets you see quickly what is the best time and airline to fly with. Both sites do hotels, but Hipmunk doesn’t do cars. However, it is an awesome way to search.
Wtcaonline.com Out of all the associations in the world to belong to, the World Trade Center has been the most rewarding. With over 330 locations in 100 countries, the leaders of this association offer a great network and beautiful global facilities for getting business done.
