How can you give back? Join the Team - Go to the team psych web page and click on the link under the “give Back” section. This will take you directly to our page for Cycle for life. You can join the team and ride 25, 56 or 85 miles for a great cause. Raise the Flag - Our goal is to raise $1000 for this event. Even if you cant ride with the team you can donate any amount you would like through the same link mentioned above. That’s not enough!!!! Well, if you need to see your name (or business name) on a mile marker and really support Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a $500 donation will get you that. Contact Sharon at email@example.com to get set up. SO, let’s make El Fuego proud!! Donate your time (and clock in some nice milage), donate your money or both. THis is a really great cause that benefits children and families in our area who are living with Cystic FIbrosis.

If you really want a challenge, one that don’t last all day but will wring the sweat out of you, than I have the sprint triathlon suggestion for you. Sign yourself up for the Scenic 17. The Scenic 17 is Florida’s Bad to the Bone Sprint challenge. Held on the beautiful, small campus of Webber International University which provided a sweet transition on their grassy sports field. The student were great volunteers. Thankfully the awards were held in the shade of the oak trees near the lake. The course was brutal. This is by far the toughest sprint tri course in Florida! Bar none. The only thing that gave mercy was the lake swim course. That was the only part of
the course that was flat. Everything else had elevation. Hills that is, bad hills. Hills that hid behind other hills. The folks there brag they have the hill with the highest elevation in Florida. Now this appears to me to be part of Florida folklore to brag that you have the highest hill. Clermont brags they have it. San Antonio brags they have the highest and toughest. Sugarloaf brags that is the highest. Tallahassee triathletes brag they have the highest. Look, I am no cartographer! So I am no expert but take my word this race course will try to whip your butt. Bike Course is fifteen miles. It’s good to get a good fifteen for a sprint is my belief. More miles for the money. However given this course you are gonna wish it was over in
that other than the quarter mile leading to and from the T1 anT2 the remaining run course consisted of HILLS ! Cool Awards consisted of beer glasses for age placers and Beer Pitchers for first place winners. Nice touch. I had to drink mine out of the bottle pretty much tells how I fared against my completive peers..
I don’t know what to say about this other than the heat factor had to be 110 degrees and has affected these two T Shirt Rating: On a scale of one to five skulls we rated the less than ten. Sweet road conditions for the bike, with a lane available for race shirts a 3.2 skulls. nearly the entire ride. It was out and Thank you Peter Ornsby, Race back on the same road with a bit of al Director- We will tell more loop in the middle. folks to come next year, we just Run Course: Peter Ornsby, race director must have a sadistic streak about may not say how tough this him that I have been previously unevent is. aware about. The reason I say this is

In the last few years, our Team Psych journey has become above and beyond something we would have ever imagined years ago when it was just the two of us. Although we kept telling ourselves "Go Big or Go Home", the magnitude of what we are now involved in continues to leave us with our jaws on the floor. I was trying to explain the quality of our members the other day, and the first thing I thought of what came out of my mouth was "we could not have HAND picked a better group of people to be apart of this club". While we are still forming, and learning the ropes of how to navigate this ship - it seems that the persona of our membership as a whole reflects our intentions with where we are going. Its funny, at every monthly meeting, we sit around trying to come up with a mission statement; and its so frustrating because I cant seem to put the feeling and spirit of this team into words. Words fail me when I reflect on the quality of the people that we proudly call our members. Somehow, even without a formal mission statement, we seemed to have captured people who know what path were on -
even if it hasn't been put down in black and white. I dont know how, but I think you guys feel the love and goodwill too, or else you wouldnt be here. Thanks for being apart of this journey, we are so proud to have you on board :) On a less sappy note - in September, I will be attending USAT Level 1 Coaching Clinic as apart of the USAT Club grant we were awarded. Shortly afterwards, we will officially offer coaching services through Team Psych! This is something we felt we were missing as a team, and something the membership should have access to. Details have yet to be finalized, but all members will definitely receive a coaching assessment and other coaching benefits yet to be determined. If you guys have ideas/input on how coaching services for members should work, please email me
@firstname.lastname@example.org. Its all about you guys :) Nicole Davis
So many things are going on its hard to find a start. Perhaps the best way is to review our motto as it helps keep us all and mostly myself focused. Train Hard Race Fast Party Hard Give Back.. Train Hard: we are always looking for ways to help new members develop their triathlon skills. We are specifically looking to help unfit folks join our club and become fit healthier. That is so basic to the mission statement of this club. Race Fast: More and more of
you are constantly being seen at races. At some races our team presence is part of local triathlon folklore. “ I see you guys everywhere is so often quoted to so many of us. At some of our races we are holding raffles for prizes. To be eligible all you have to do is wear team psych t shirt or gear at the race for awesome booty. Race for the Pirates Booty Triathlon. Most important to note is mark your calamander for October 30th for the Race for the Pirates Booty Triathlon. Team Psych is a partner in starting to finish of this event and our charity endeavors will benefit, particularly Success 4 Kids and Families that helps at risk kids. Party Hard Our last social at the Vine was awesome. These monthly get together have become infamous. We raffle off triathlon entries, gear and booty prizes. Any ideas or if you wish to add momentum or share a new idea for the monthly social please contact us and share your idea. We welcome off the wall ideas. Give Back Look I like training, racing, and partying like the next swashbuckler. But what sets us
so apart is we find a way to Give Back. We find so many ways. The other comment I love to hear on behalf of our community is Thank You. You guys do so much for the community. In2011 we are giving back each to the community. A fantastic achievement is our club is a 501 3 C Federal Charity Organization. Our mission Statement is to improve the health and wellness of the Tampa Bay area via our training, mentoring and additional activities. Funds from our Monthly socials benefit Cystic Fibrosis. We will bike Marshall at their October Cycle Event ,field cycling teams and donate money to this fine charity. We have just started the sponsorship of children to Triathlon Camp and YTS Series of Youth Triathlon in the YMCA’s of the Tampa Bay area. Of course we sponsor open water swims, and beginner bike rides. There is so much more to say but I will let this brew until I pen a note from me to you. Mark Davis

Biggest obstacle I overcame in becoming a triathlete: Just making myself do it. And Swimming in 68 degree water in Key West without wet suit What is your greatest triathlon moment or story: Pulling into Eckerd drug store the evening before the Madeira Beach Triathlon in May 1989 and buying a pregnancy test for first thing next morning after the race. Finding out I was pregnant with Adam at the Madeira beach triathlon in May 1989. Totally unexpected! What inspires me is: That one day there will something in my life other than triathlon, and my husband would enjoy doing something that I like to do. My favorite part about triathlon is… After it’s over and my husband comes home Guilty Pleasures: Tanqueray & Tonic What drew you to Team Psych: I will borrow one of Nicole’s famous quotes; “I never had a chance”! Living with Mark Davis for 30 years and living the triathlon circuit about every weekend for most all those years…..I feel like I’ve been grandfathered in. There was never a weekend that I didn’t go away with him to watch him race, cheer him on, dragging Nicole with me to see her Daddy race. His dream of Team Psych started back then.
