Marilynn’s Place serves up good Cajun/Creole food in quirky atmosphere

The Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights is a unique holiday experience that includes shopping, dining, and fun holiday events from November to December in eight of the Bayou State’s most festive cities – Shreveport-Bossier, Minden, Monroe-West Monroe, Natchitoches and Alexandria/Pineville.
Creole favorites, including creamy crawfish etoufee, crispy fried catfish, and their signature Hurricane Katrina Burger, described as, “big, messy, and unpredictable with all the options you can fit into a FEMA trailer - hamburger patty, NOLA roast beef, bacon, cheese, and jalapeno.”
Marilynn’s Place is more than just a restaurant. It’s a hub of friendly and fun locals eager to welcome new faces and new stories.
One of the best holiday pastimes is eating. These cities have their fill of scrumptious places. One of those is Marilynn’s Place located in Shreveport’s historic Broadmoor neighborhood. Marilynn’s offers a quirky, “laissez les bon temps roulez” atmosphere. This converted gas station features an open kitchen, upbeat music and an indoor/outdoor patio. Everyone is family at Marilynn’s Place and the head chef makes sure everyone feels at home.
Robert Trudeau, a Shreveport native, says that his favorite dish on the menu is the fried shrimp po-boy. “The fat baguette bread is one of the keys to the flavor. A bonus is the remoulade sauce; ask for an extra or two,” he said. “An underground tip: ask the kitchen to butter and toast the loaf. They ordinarily do not take that step. Celestial deliciousness awaits you.”

Robert "Bozz" Baucom, who named his restaurant after his mother, comes from a long career in culinary arts. His mission is to deliver New Orleans cuisine and style. This friendly chef truly cares about his customers and somehow always has time to make a round to say hello, as is Louisianan hospitality tradition.
The restaurant is open 7 days a week and often has live music and drink specials. But the real party is Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. –2 p.m. Marilynn’s offers $12 bottomless brunch drinks with their famous signature build your own Bloody Marys and mimosas bar. The brunch menu ranges from traditional shrimp and grits, to light salmon platters, and savory country biscuits with andouille sausage and gravy. Guests stay for hours on the outside patios while sipping drinks and mingling.
