Values
How do we train Romania’s future leaders? Passion Initiative Resilience Care Action Excellence Continuous learning Collaboration Reflection Integrity Authenticity Balance
What is the process? Here's the schedule for the 6 week long learning:
4 weeks of theoretical training
2 weeks of practical training
With trainers’ support, we have developed planning, organizational and activity coordination skills.
During practice period, we have created for participants a context for understanding the challenges associated with teaching and the reality of children with whom they will be working. Schools from Potlogi and Românești, Dâmbovița County, hosted us during the August 1-13 for the two weeks of teaching practice.
We have created the foundation for a mentality that is specific to future leaders in education: courage to face obstacles, desire to make a difference, resilience and self-analysis capacity, solution orientation. Theoretical training: one of our albums can be viewed here.
Practical training: take a look at the pictures taken at the meeting with children and during the second week of teaching.

What is new in 2016 Involvement of current teachers
Teach for Romania teachers have directly contributed to the new generation's learning experience through mentoring, coaching, training & facilitation, project planning.
What is new in 2016 Involvement of children By directly involving 22 school students from Potlogi and Românești in the Academy's organizational activities, we have provided them with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and have created volunteering opportunities in the community.
What is new in 2016 Involvement of parents The first didactic training in Romania involving parents: we talked to over 50 parents about their relationship with their children and their need to be seen. A workshop that has sparked astonishment, curiosity and trust that parents can be a real support in the educational process.

A transformational experience for mentors For me, the experience of being a mentor in the Academy has been a great learning opportunity. Sitting in the back of the classroom and observing the teaching process and then helping my colleagues improve their skills has been a challenge. I have seen what it is like to face various challenges during class and to be in need of help. It was then when I understood how relevant my role is. SĂŽnziana Badea Primary-school teacher at Teach for Romania
A transformational experience for participants I used to think that building a relationship with children is a piece of cake. During the Academy we learned techniques to connect with children and I was happy when, at the end, they emphatically told me: „Miiiiss, I would like to stay with you aaaaall day!” Laura Hobincă, Teach for Romania teacher
me the opportunity to have a real teaching experience in order to understand what the challenges are in terms of planning, execution and personal attitude towards class. Thanks to this experience, I have realistic expectations from the beginning of the school year and I am ready to meet students' real needs.
Tiberius Hodoroabă, Teach for Romania Teacher
A transformational experience for children We came to the Summer Academy because we want to learn and because we care about our community, the people in it, the surrounding objects.
I have learned that people can have many jobs, about transforming fears and understanding my emotions.
I am sad because the School is ending. I would like to spend all day with Miss. I have enjoyed the Summer school. We are more united as a class and we do not fight as much.
A transformational experience for school and community I have been delighted by the presence of Teach for Romania. Although I have 40 years’ experience in education, I had many things to learn as a person and a teacher from the young people that this association has trained. One can easily notice the new approach and the change of didactic approach that they have applied here, at the school from Românești. I have been pleasantly surprised by the fact that the number of children that attended the event exceeded our expectations. The children were very excited and impressed.
