MEN’S HOOPS - 1961


Ray Meyer’s Blue Demons defeated Louisville Cardinals, 75-67, on the road. The win started a four-game win streak that earned DePaul a berth in the NIT with a 17-8 mark. DePaul was led in scoring by sharp shooter Howie Carl (21.0 ppg) and big man M.C. Thompson (16.3 ppg). Howie Carl concluded his DePaul career with 1,461 career points. In addition, Carl earned “Little” All-American honors for players under 5-10. He holds the Alumni Hall single-game scoring record with 43 points against Marquette. Carl made a school record 23 free-throws against Marquette on December 23 1960.

The Blue Demons defeated Valparaiso, 92-64, on February 23, 1989. The 1988-89 squad was led by Dianna Vines. Vines is the all-time leading scorer in DePaul history with 2,504 career points. During her four years at DePaul, Vines averaged 20.7 points-per-game. Vines holds six career, five season and two single-game school records. A 5-11 forward, Vines was a Blue Demon from 1985-89, and helped DePaul to the Women’s National Invitational Championship and earned the tournaments Most Valuable Player award. She was inducted into the DePaul Hall of Fame in 2004.

DEPAUL ATHLETICS ON-LINE AUCTIONS In week two of BIDS On-Line Auctions, we totaled $515 which benefited our scholarship funds. To participate in B.I.D.S., bidders will have to register prior to submitting bids. All proceeds from the on-line auctions will benefit DePaul athletic scholarships. As a special incentive for bidders, all winning bidders of more than $100 will receive a complimentary Ray Meyer commemorative coin which was minted in 2006-07 to memorialize the DePaul legend and to support the scholarship in his name.

Emblazoned on the upper left of the jersey is the commemorative coach 42/724 logo in honor of DePaul legend Ray Meyer. The jersey is blue with red/white piping, size 50 and number 15. Ray Meyer is one of the 20 all-time winningest coaches in NCAA division one history. He led the Blue Demons for 42 seasons and 724 games. Meyer compled his tenure in September 1997 after 55 years of service.


The jersey was worn by No. 15 Thijin Moses. The 6-8 forward played just one season for the Blue Demons in 2006-07. 2. Rare - DePaul Blue Demons adidas Mens Basketball jersey (2007-08 season) - #33 Bid now on an authentic rare black adidas mens basketball jersey, number 33!


This jersey was produced to be game worn in the 2007-08 season. It is a special edition Black jersey that was only used during this season. The jersey is black with blue/white piping, size 54 and number 33. It appears that the jersey was not worn by a scholarship player in 2007-08. 3. DePaul Blue Demons game worn Nike Womens Basketball jersey - #12 Casmir Patterson Bid now on an authentic limited edition game worn Nike womens basketball jersey. This is limited edition jersey in memory of 9/11. Emblazoned in the upper right of the jersey is an American flag ribbon to show support for the troops and in Memoriam of the terrorist attacks. The jersey is blue/red/white, size L, and was worn by #12 Casmir Patterson during the 2002-03 season. She lettered for DePaul from 2002-05 and was part of the 2003, 2004 and 2005 teams that went to the NCAA tournament

4. DePaul Blue Demons game worn Nike women’s basketball jersey - #25 Laura Sobieszczyk Bid now on an authentic game worn Nike womens basketball jersey. The jersey is blue/red/white, size L, and was worn by #25 Laura Sobieszczyk who lettered for DePaul from 1999-03. Sobieszczyk was part of the 2003 team that went to the NCAA tournament as a senior with a record of 22-10. Sobiesszczyk averaged 30 minutes and scored 5.3 points and amassed 3.3 rebounds while tallying 83 assists. She was twice named team captain and four times, she was named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. 5. DePaul Blue Demons Legends Throwback Basketball jersey - #99 George Mikan Bid Now on a George Mikan, Legends series (1942-1946) Throwback Mens Basketball Jersey. This is a retro jersey in the same design as George Mikan played in. It is white with blue and red design, size XXL, number 99. He was the real Big Man on Campus. George Mikan is a true DePaul legend, having played for DePaul from 1942-1946. Leading DePaul to the 1945 NIT National Championship,Mikan helped change the game of basketball forever, at both the NBA level and as a collegian. 6. DePaul is pleased to announce a new benefit for President’s Club members: exclusive access to pregame receptions before all men’s and women’s basketball Big East home games in 2012! The new “President’s Club Room” at Allstate Arena will open Jan. 1, 2012, when the men’s team takes on Syracuse. The club room will offer complimentary refreshments, “chalk talks” with men’s basketball staff, and special visits from DePaul administration. President’s Club members and their spouse/significant other are welcome to attend the pregame receptions free of charge starting one hour prior to tip-off in the Southeast Party Room. Additional guests are welcome to attend for $20 per person. Preregistration options will be available closer to the first game, so check back for more details this winter. Also, there will be pregame receptions on the Lincoln Park Campus for all women’s basketball Big East home games as well, and President’s Club members are encouraged to attend! NEW AT ALLSTATE ARENA Fans will enjoy a new look and more of a DePaul atmosphere throughout the concourses at Allstate Arena. The rich history and tradition of Blue Demon Basketball will be on display throughout the arena. A new KIDZone will occupy southeast corner, complete with a Boot N’ Shoot pop shot game, Demon House bouncer for all little Demons, poster making and face tattoo stations. Fans can also pose with a life size cut out of their favorite Blue Demon. In addition, pre-game photo opportunities with DIBs the Blue Demon mascot for every game. A new Fan Zone will occupy the refurbished area in the east concourse where fans can gather pre-game or at halftime for refreshments and lively conversation. And last but not least, a new Demon rules the tunnel on the west end of the stadium!


A new scoreboard with a 10-foot video screen is coming in December, complete with a three-camera production capability. A new KIDZone will occupy a portion of the Hall of Fame foyer with the new Boot N’ Shoot pop-a-shot game (for SELECT games), poster making and face tattoo stations.
