Calvin Harris makes chart history with eight top 10s CALVIN Harris has made chart history by becoming the first artist to have eight top 10 hits from one studio album. His track I Need Your Love, featuring singer Ellie Goulding, climbed to number seven on the Official Chart at the weekend. He tweeted his delight at the news: “Eight Top 10s from my album 18 Months now! So happy!!!” The DJ and producer from Dumfries has now overtaken Michael Jackson, who previously held the record. The star had seven top 10 hits from both his 1987 album Bad and his 1991 record Dangerous. Calvin Harris is the first artist in the 60-year history of the Official Singles Chart to achieve the feat. Martin Talbot, from the Official Charts Company, said: “Many artists only achieve a handful of hits in their entire careers, so for any act to secure three or four from one album is an excellent achievement. “In turn, eight top 10s from one album is not just impressive, it is absolutely remarkable. And, of course, record breaking. Congratulations to Calvin Harris, the modern day hit-maker.” FEMALE SUCCESS His run began back in June 2011 when his track Bounce, featuring Kelis, went to number two in the chart. high-profile collaborations including Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Florence Welsh from Florence + the Machine. His third studio album 18 Months has sold more than 540,000 copies in the UK since its release in October last year. It has spent two weeks at number one and 10 weeks in the top 10 of the Official Album Chart. Jessie J was the first British female to score six top 10 hits from one album, including Domino and LaserLight from the platinum edition

of her 2011 debut album Who You Are. She is tied with Lady Gaga, who also achieved six top 10 hits from 2008’s The Fame and 2009’s The Fame Monster (expanded edition). Katy Perry has also had six top 10s from her second album Teenage Dream (2010), including the 2012 deluxe edition Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. Take That’s 1993 album Everything Changes also had six top 10 singles.

SINCE appearing on season 13 of “Dancing With the Stars,” fans have seen less of Chaz Bono -- and he plans on keeping it that way. Bono has lost 60 pounds and is still losing, he told People. The weight loss has been the result of better eating habits and exercise, he said. “Diets don’t work,” he told the magazine. “You just have to change what you eat, and I have.” That includes incorporating more meat, fruits and veggies, the son of megastar Cher said, as well as cutting back on grains and starches. In 2005, Bono participated in VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club 3” before

gender reassignment surgery that transformed him from Chastity Bono to Chaz. EW reported that in November Bono appeared on “The Doctors” and co-host Dr. Travis Stork advised him on how to lose weight. “Because I’m transgender, I was always completely disconnected from my body,” Bono said during the show. “I really lived in my head and just kind of tried to ignore everything from the neck down.” While attending the GLAAD Media Awards this past weekend, Bono said he is still dancing and that part of his exercise routine now also includes martial arts training. Lauryn Hill left the court in Newark, New Jersey after being scolded by the judge for making “no effort” to repay her tax bill.

Lauryn Hill tax evasion sentencing postponed FORMER Fugees singer Lauryn Hill’s sentencing for tax evasion in the US has been postponed after she failed to make the repayments. Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo criticised Hill for not making an effort to pay the taxes calling it a “criminal matter”. The eight-time Grammy winner pleaded guilty last year to not paying taxes on $1.8m (£1.2m) earned from 2005 to 2007. The little-seen singer did not speak and left the court without commenting. “This is not someone who stands before the court penniless,’’ Judge

Arleo said to Hill’s lawyer, Nathan Hochman. “Actions speak louder than words, and there has been no effort here to pay these taxes,’’ she added. It was revealed in court that Hill has paid $50,000 (£32,853) of the $500,000 (£328,530) she promised to pay when she was charged with wilfully failing to file income tax returns. “I fully expect that by 3 May, Ms Hill will be able to pay back all the restitution she has,’’ Hochman said. The singer could face up to 36 months in prison when she is sentenced on 6 May.
