Holiday Guide The Holidays Are Coming‌ So Are Your Family And Friends! It’s that time of year again when your family and friends travel from far and wide to spend the holidays at your house. They’ll be eating your food, watching your television, and of course, you and the kids will be bunking out on that lumpy old couch or that slowly-deflating air mattress on that oh-so-soft office floor for the week they’re in town. Can’t be helped, right? Wrong! We can’t solve the food and TV problem, but that that last one‌ we can fix. No, you don’t have to build that extra room to have your brother and sister-in-law and all of their kids stay over for the holidays. There’s another solution. Remember old-school “Murphyâ€? beds? You’re probably thinking of Grandma’s Murphy bed you grew up sleeping on at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Maybe you think it’s that super thin mattress like you find in a sofa bed, or maybe even a chunky and hard Futon mattress. This is not your Grandma’s “Murphyâ€? bed. Heck, this is the 21st Century – the modern version, only found at Wallbeds “nâ€? More in Keller, is functional, beautiful, comfortable, and practical. Every bed from Wallbeds “nâ€? More is constructed of quality, solid wood and accommodates any standard mattress. So you’re offering your guests a “real bedâ€? with one major difference: when not in use, it folds up and away, allowing your playroom,

craft room or home office to also double as an extra guest bedroom. Stylish Wallbeds “n More beds offer sturdy construction in your choice of the finest birch, maple or oak in a variety of finishes. Our beds also come with your choice of entertainment units, desks and/ or dresser combinations, with drawers, cabinets, shelving and pull-outs in a huge selection of designs. Your Wallbeds “n More unit bolts directly to the studs in your wall (but can be easily relocated) and can be stored with sheets, blankets and pillows at the ready, for any time you want to call your extra room into service as a guest room. Here’s how it works: Call Wallbeds “n More at 817-658-5450 and schedule an appointment. Why an appointment? Because we want you to have time to try out one of our beds, to really experience it and see that it’s every bit as comfortable as the other beds in your home. Lay there for ten to fifteen minutes (we promise we’ll wake you up if you drift off). Once you’re sold on the comfort, simply select the wood, stain and design options that best fit your needs. It’s that easy, and you’ll be able to turn any room in your home into a multipurpose room. Make your holidays extra happy (and comfortable) by getting your beautiful Wallbeds “n More before the relatives arrive – call us at 817-658-5450, visit us at www.WallBedsNMore. com, or come by our Keller store today! Holiday Guide Brightening customers’ faces for six years and counting By Mike Davis, Contributing Writer

Ann founded the boutique’s original location in Lewisville in 1994, then moved it to Flower Mound before settling in The Shops at Highland Village in 2007. Many of her cosmetic customers followed her from location to location. “I have the sweetest, most loyal customers,” Ann said. “The people are what makes this business so fulfilling.” Case in point, Brightside provided two sisters their very first makeover at age 13. Through high school homecomings and proms, the girls continued to visit Photo courtesy of Bill Castleman the boutique faithfully and one Ann Wolf of them relied on Ann and her products once again during her The Shops at Highland Village offers consumers virtually any product or service recent wedding. Perhaps the family-oriented they could want. Yet there’s something atmosphere comes from the way Ann runs unique awaiting customers who walk her boutique. “I treat this store like it’s my home,” Ann through the doors of Brightside Boutique. For starters, they’re often greeted by the said. “Here we treat you with respect and boutique’s vivacious and warm-hearted give the customer special treatment, like owner, Ann Wolf. who combines passion for offering them water when they come in and her business with respect and rapt attention walking them to the door on their way out.” Going the extra step also means attention to every customer. “I run my business by the words of Christ,” to detail in almost every facet of the business. Ann said. “Treat others the way you would In addition to serving customers, Ann also handles marketing, hiring, training and want to be treated.” It’s a business model that produces some of the bookwork. She also pays close success, as Ann and her staff recently attention to the products on her floor. “I’m really cautious about the brands we celebrated the boutique’s sixth anniversary carry, and all my companies service their at its current location.

products,” Ann said. “When we go to market, I purchase with the customer and their needs in mind.” The customers aren’t the only ones enjoying the experience. Ann describes her staff as excited, energetic employees who perform well and mirror her example of respectful customer service. She’s also very proud that 16 of her young employees (including her youngest daughter) over the years have moved on to attend college, a testament to the skills and qualities one can learn at Brightside. “I train them how to work hard and be an entrepreneur,” Ann said. “This isn’t just about employment for them, it also allows

me to be a mentoring figure.” The celebration of a six year anniversary is especially fulfilling for Ann because industry standards suggest if a small business can survive the first three years of operation, it has reached a pinnacle of sorts. “I’m very grateful for six years at this location,” Ann said. “I’m also grateful to my employees, grateful to Christ, and grateful to my customers.” For more information about Brightside Boutique or Ann’s other store in The Shops at Highland Village, Brightside Shoes, please visit www.brightsideboutique.net.

Holiday Guide Ways To Give Back This Holiday Season By Lyn Rejahl Pry, Contributing Writer

For more than 40 years, Lewisvillebased Christian Community Action (CCA) has served those in need. Each year, CCA employees and volunteers-- along with support from local families, churches, and businesses-make a profound difference in the lives of more than 10,000 individuals. In 2012, CCA provided toys for 1,811 children, Christmas gifts for 91 seniors and holiday food for 1,200 families. The non-profit is expecting to serve at least that many families this year. CCA serves more than 10,000 individuals per year throughout Denton and surrounding counties. Its service area includes eight independent school districts: Argyle; Lewisville; Lake Dallas; Coppell; Little Elm; Frisco; Northwest; and Carrollton-Farmers Branch. School programs include a Back to School clothing drive and a Kids Eat Free summer lunch program. Low-cost, high-quality childcare in Lewisville and The Colony is provided by its partnership with the First United Methodist Church. A financial gift, donation of needed items or volunteer time will help make the holidays brighter for those who are less fortunate. Opportunities to help include: collecting holiday food items to donate; supporting the Christmas Toy Store which provides

parents the opportunity to select Christmas toys for their children; coordinate a toy drive by fulfilling gift ideas from a CCA Giving Tree located at a local church or business; and make a monetary donation to CCA either by sending a check listing a specific holiday program designation or online at www.ccahelps.org. In addition, people can Adopt a Senior for Christmas by purchasing gifts from a personal wish list, then return the wrapped gifts with the senior’s name on the tag to CCA by Monday, Dec. 2. The senior Christmas party will be held Friday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 907 W. Main St. in Lewisville. Volunteer opportunities include: sorting and organizing Holiday food items; staff the CCA Christmas Toy Store; and staffing the numerous local Giving Tree locations.
