The Cork North West TD said he is seeing people under huge strain due to mortgage arrears and other financial woes, with six constituents completely breaking down in his office in one day recently. His revelations come on foot of an Evening Echo survey of Cork TDs which found that financial worries are the most common problem presented at constituency clinics. Of the 16 TDs the Evening Echo spoke to, almost all said that financial or housing issues and accessing social welfare were in the top three most pressing issues presented to them. In my clinic on one particular day six individuals — grown men and women — cried in front of me in regard to the amount of debt they had on their shoulders,â€? he said.
