THE NEW COVENANT Connecting People to Purpose

NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2021

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. None of them shall teach his neighbour, and none his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." Hebrews 8:10-12

THE NEW COVENANT IS AMAZING!

In it, God states that His intent and purpose in establishing the covenant is so that people can be reconciled to their heavenly Father, draw near to Him and enjoy an intimate relationship. In the old covenant, no-one could confidently draw near to God because of indwelling sin. The nearest anyone got was the High Priest of the temple. He had the privilege and opportunity once a year on the Day of Atonement. But that opportunity was short lived as He went into the most holy place with fear and trepidation in case, he hadn’t approached God’s presence correctly. Under the new covenant, God has through the Lord Jesus Christ, his sacrifice, and His shed blood on the cross, opened up the way into His presence and glory. It’s interesting that Hebrew is read from right to left or backwards. When we read the terms of the new covenant this way, the approach to God is clearly seen. God has agreed to:

• Be merciful to our unrighteousness • Forgive our sins and lawless deeds

CHURCH EVENTS – FEBRUARY THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE EVERY MONDAY 7:30pm LIFE CHANGE – FIONA RYAN SUNDAY 28TH 10:30AM

• Allow all to know Him and be intimate • To be our God and we His people • To share His word in our mind and heart We start with the blood of the covenant, claiming mercy and forgiveness of sins. When we deal with sin, through the work of the cross we can draw near to know God and learn of His rich grace in His gift of righteousness to us. It’s this rich provision of salvation and righteousness that gives us access to come boldly and establish an intimate relationship of knowing God in a personal way. As we draw near to God, He will draw near to us and begin to share His word deep in our heart and mind. God wants to speak to us, and the new covenant has made this possible.

Are you taking advantage of God’s new agreement based upon His love, grace and mercy?

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.” Hebrews 10:19-22

LIFE CHANGE

with DAVID

RYAN

Our 'Life Change' event begins with a powerful and encouraging message from David Ryan.

“I have gone on to run various rehabilitation centres, working in prisons and community services, helping addicts and alcoholics to recover from addiction.”

“I first gave my life to Jesus in 2002 after coming into recovery from 22 years of drug addiction, crime and prison. I had my first personal encounter with God in the year 2000 in a prison cell in Strangeways. This experience led me to change my life forever.”

“My future plans for my ministry is to carry on establishing the Brothers of Worship (BOW) group which I formed whilst in lockdown pandemic in 2020 and now with the help of brother Tony Smith (pictured below) where we meet and have fellowship. I would also like to

BROTHERS OF WORSHIP

“The Brothers of Worship (BOW) group started during lockdown pandemic in 2020. David Ryan (above who shared his ‘Life Change’ testimony last month) formed the group; and me (Tony pictured) helped David to get things moving for us men to come together.” “BOW is for the men of TCLC to have an informal monthly meeting. It's not a bible study group, but a gathering where men can share individual thoughts, seek prayer, support one another and our families – finding out more about faith at work within the church and individual ministries, to evangelise to friends and neighbours through the teachings of the gospel. This so far has taken place over breakfast on a Saturday morning in church Café Connect, but at the moment it is held on Zoom.” “BOW will eventually invite christians and non-christians from outside the church, to share how God has made a massive impact in their lives.”

“Let us not give up meeting together, ...but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Heb 10:25

WOMEN OF WORTH

“I formed Women of Worth (WOW) through a vision I received whilst in prayer a little while ago where God said to me rise up! He also gave me a scripture – Isaiah 32:9-11 “Rise up, you women who are at ease...” on the basis of God’s word, I knew it was time for us women to rise up and to know who we are in Christ! I’ve not done anything like this before and I felt so out of my comfort zone, the only thing I could do was lean on God. The support from the women has been great and the confidence that God is instilling in me is constantly growing. WOW started in November 2020, monthly we study women of the bible, share testimonies, worship and pray – oh and also we have give aways! Well it wouldn’t be a women’s group without treats!” “At the moment we are about 40 strong and growing, we meet on Zoom and plan to take it back into church once lockdown is over with a live link for those who are out of the city.”

“So far it’s been great - I pray with God’s guidance, it will only get better!”
