Paragon Star Groundbreaking
Letter from the President The Lee’s Summit EDC had a lot to be thankful for in the month of November, as we celebrated official groundbreakings for Paragon Star’s soccer village and Northpoint Development’s Summit Square apartments. These projects are exciting opportunities to enhance the city’s community product, and will attract visitors and new residents to Lee’s Summit for years to come. In addition, the Lee’s Summit City Council approved a preliminary development plan for Phase 1 of The Grove, a 73-acre mixed-use project located on the northeast and southeast corners of M-291 and SE 16th Street. The approval allows Westcott to move forward on a groundbreaking and development of more than 440,000 square feet of speculative industrial and warehouse space at the site, filling a critical gap in available sites for businesses looking to expand. Looking ahead to 2017, we are seeing an uptick in potential new expansion and attraction projects and expect to have several additional announcements in the first quarter. We have begun interviewing candidates for our newly created Director of Community and Investor Relations position. We hope to have this key position filled by early January. As always, if you have any questions or know of a prospective investor who you believe would benefit from membership in the Lee’s Summit EDC, please feel free to give me a call so I can follow up, or better yet, invite them to a Hump Day Happy Hour!
