WCIT 2010 - challenges for change The World Congress on Information Technology 2010 offers a stage to showcase the European achievements, highlights the successes and the opportunity to show the European best practices to the rest of the world and vice versa.

At Telecentre-Europe, we believe this is an excellent opportunity to promote and celebrate telecentres struggling to enhance quality of life for communities across Europe.

Also This Month European Parliament calls for rapid implementation of digital agenda In plenary session on Tuesday 5 May, the European Parliament adopted, by a large majority, the resolution by Pilar del Castillo Vera (EPP, Spain) on Europe's digital future. According to the resolution, every European citizen should have access to broadband internet at competitive prices by 2013 and be trained in the skills needed to be able to participate fully in the new digital society. ePractice Community facilitators

Therefore, Telecentre-Europe will organize a booth in the eInclusion pavilion, where we will demonstrate the impact and the importance of telecentres in bridging the digital and social gap. We will also deliver two workshops that will explore the network’s outcomes and how we can become more efficient in the future, considering the actual European context.

Steering Committee meet in Amsterdam Following WCIT 2010, members of the Telecentre-Europe Steering Committee will meet in Amsterdam, Netherlands (28-29 May) to discuss about network outcomes and to plan next steps.

The Workshop will support sharing experiences and best practices within the community environment and specific ways that facilitators have gradually adopted in their effort to support the community space and its members. Please find more details HERE .

European Foundation Week The event will take place between 31st of May and 4th of June and represents a week-long opportunity to debate about foundations, how they work for Europe and connect with best practices.

eINDIA 2010 Awards Members of the Telecentre-Europe community are invited to nominate for the awards the best initiatives in the following domains: Digital Learning, eGovernance, e-Agriculture, e-Health, Municipal IT, Telecentre. The last date for filing nominations is 5th June, 2010. The Finalists will be announced and congratulated at the eINDIA2010 Conference, to be convened at Hyderabad International Convention Centre between 4th – 6th August 2010.

eINDIA Awards are held annually with the eINDIA Conference and Exhibitions and are open to all national and international government organizations, civil society organizations, bilateral and multilateral development organizations and enterprises, who have transformed social development opportunities into a sustainable social enterprise through innovative ICT intervention.  More back to top
