Dreamscape

Lifestyle Trend Book Autumn/Winter 13-14 By:Tyler beveridge

Dreamscape ‘Dreamscape’ is all about exploring a side of ourselves we may not have thought to look at before. Searching through the recesses of our mind we find the things that give us nightmares, the fairy tales we lived by, the secret rebel we’ve always wanted to be, and strange hallucinations that challenge our senses. By delving into our own dreamscapes we see the things we want to purue but have always been afraid of but for Fall/Winter 13-14 there will be no holding back. We will let our strangeness show and not only that but we will flaunt it like a badge of honor, urging others to join in on finding themselves too.

Hallucinating doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. With psychedelic colors and fabrics that deceive the eye with their interesting textures ‘hallucination’ helps you see what may not usually be seen. HALLUCINATE is a bold play on. ‘halucination’ is the bold option to see what others don’t see while existing in the here and now. We look to nature, magic, and the absurd to create our own ‘hallucination’. Hallucination will be comfortable and ethereal but not exactly familiar to everyone around you.

do we draw from them? ‘Nightmare is about translating our deepest fears into something wearable. Nightmare will utilize dark fabrics and faux animal skins to create tough looks that would make anyone like a dream. Translated into house and lifestyle wears ‘Nightmare’ will have a gothic look and feel that also may lean slightly towards the kitschy side. This trend is very much for people that are bold and adventurous.

about embracing your inner rebel. Doing things the old you wouldn’t usually do, but more than that enfant terrible is all about DIY. Customization is key to expressing yourself in today’s world. Monotony is not ok coloring outside the lines is. We must look to the grungy greats to be able to fully understand enfant terrible. Kurt Cobain, Syd Vicious, and David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust would be proud.

Drift away into your favorite fairy tale. Maybe you’re the hero, maybe you’re the villain but either way you look amazing. GRIMM is romantic, going over the top is not only welcomed but encouraged. With Grimm you have to believe in things you can’t always see. Magic is all around you and if you can convince yourself to step off the beaten path and embrace it you will see a new you.
