to our Summer 2019 issue of ‘At Home’ our own Manningford Croft magazine. 10 years ago this June we acquired our practice in Pewsey. We are very proud of what we’ve achieved and grateful for the trust and support offered to us over the years from our unique clientele. They say ‘a week is a long time in politics’, certainly that’s still true, but the last 10 years in politics have been quite extraordinary with the inevitable fallout affecting the property market, and the feeling of general wellbeing.

Although we have all practiced our respective disciplines for years and seen many changes along the way, the last 10 years have seen enormous changes in our industry: greater levels of taxation for property, greater levels of bureaucracy and a real questioning of the old order, from long established brands disappearing to a do-it-yourself offering being lauded as the new way forward. No fuss, almost no cost and supposedly equal results. Our industry has, at times in the past, been embarrassingly unaware of itself and the public’s perception of the value it offers. As times change, the overall quality of the offering from agencies has improved beyond measure. Fees have come down and by and large, you get more for it.

Our business is based on strong traditional values of integrity, accountability and responsibility whilst also having the drive and ambition to make a real difference. Almost all our staff have operated successfully in the London and country property markets and we bring with us a broad understanding of what motivates both buyers and sellers. We work hard for our clients, often outside normal office opening hours and utilise modern marketing platforms to reach a broad audience in a fast changing world. We are not keen on marketing gimmicks, so don’t expect gift vouchers but do expect our smart in-house property magazine widely circulated across our region, full colour brochures with floorplans, professional photography included within our fees and a genuine ‘first hand’ knowledge of the areas we cover. We are true local experts which, we think, you should expect. Finally, our cover alludes, with a little humour we hope, to the current elephant in the room: Brexit, which has produced endless dialogue and analysis over what is now approaching three years. Whilst it is tempting to feel that this is all sufficiently unchartered territory that one should take shelter and batten down the hatches, our world is rooted with its feet firmly on the ground, and life goes on. Cynics continue to be proved wrong and with common sense all round, the property market continues to thrive. Indeed, in one third of our sales during the first half of 2019, we were faced with a choice of buyers, often exceeding price guides. As ever, if you are considering buying, selling, letting or renting, we would be delighted to hear from you.
