WHAT DOES 2018 HOLD FOR THE PROPERTY MARKET?

Each year the press have lots to say about the property market so let’s take a look at what they aren’t saying. They are not saying that there is some good market activity, but that it is a very price sensitive buyers’ market. They may say that prices are falling, but they are not saying that some of those asking prices overshot the buoyant market of several years ago and have been left high and dry by the pre-Brexit world that we live in at present. Prices haven’t really come down, just that expectations became too high. The press may tell us that fewer people are moving and that fewer properties are available for sale than in years gone by, so what does this mean to sellers today? It means that if the pricing is right the property will sell. Property sales now depend more than ever on the skill of an estate agent to price correctly. We, as professional Estate Agents, Chartered Surveyors and Valuers, are acutely aware of this, and as a result are confident of being able to offer proper professional advice to our clients allowing them to sell even in difficult market conditions. There is always a strong demand for property in this area, owing to commutability, schools and idyllic countryside and we are confident that the market will continue to remain active through Spring, particularly as Brexit negotiations continue; with interest rates remaining low; and the economy continuing to prosper. The forecast is positive and a lot of those people, who had put their move on hold, may well decide that 2018 is the right time to commit to moving. We are fortunate that, as well as second hand sales, we have been instructed on a number of new homes sites and land opportunities upon which we are endeavouring to try and gain planning consent upon.
