Welcome to the 41st Jubilee It is a great joy to welcome you to the Land of the Sky Jubilee... For forty-one years, Trinity Baptist has hosted God’s family from all across our great country. More than any other year, we sense a spirit of urgency upon our country and our churches. Our wonderful nation is at a crossroads! We can go with God or continue to move away from God. For this week of Jubilee, let us remember that it is God who has blessed America and made this a great nation! From the birth of our nation, to God’s protection through the horrors of war, we have witnessed the hand of God! May we once again be able to declare, “One Nation Under God”! May the Jubilee not only be refreshment, but the source of revival for us as individuals and as the body of Christ! Thank you for coming! Pastor Donnie Dalton

Dr. Kenny Baldwin

Pastor James Stanley Adcock is a native of WNC and was saved at a young age. He answered the call to the ministry in 1982. He has been the Pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC, for 22 years.

Kenny was led to the Lord by his father at the young age of four. He was called to preach at the age of nine. He got early experience in preaching by participating in the American Association of Christian School’s (AACS) competition at the age of nine.

Pastor Adcock has directed the ‘Victory Through the Blood’ radio broadcast for the past 24 years. He also taught at Anchor Baptist Bible College for 10 1/2 years under the direction of Randy C. Barton, Pastor of the Anchor Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest, NC.

His dynamic preaching style has afforded him numerous opportunities to minister at Crossroads Baptist Church; in other churches in various states and overseas, in youth conferences and rallies, revivals, missions’ conferences, community centers, homeless shelters and schools.

He is married to Debra, his wife of 36 years. God has blessed them with four children, Stacy, Kristin, Stephen and Amanda. Amanda married Jeff Brown, who is a Pastor in Boone, NC. They also have seven glorious grandchildren, Dilan, Dekota, Dekala, Danielle, Lilly, Emily and Ethan.

He joined his dad’s ministerial staff at Crossroads Baptist Church in 2000. He currently serves as Youth Pastor and School Administrator, Assistant Choir Director, Assistant Director for the Conference on Evangelizing Black America (COEBA), Children’s Choir Director and Church pianist.

Pastor Adcock’s favorite Bible verse can be found in Jude 24, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” Pastor Adcock has been faithful to God all these years! We thank God for his unfailing love for God’s work.

Kenny and his wife, Bethany, were married on March 16, 2002. They have two sons and two daughters, Kevin, Kenneth, Karmen and Khloe. They currently reside in Alexandria, Virginia.

On April 12, 1981, Donnie Dalton was saved by the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He surrendered to preach on March 7, 1993, and in February of the following year was called to be the pastor of Mt. Verd Baptist Church in Athens, TN. During the past 15 years of Dr. Dalton’s pastorate, Mt. Verd Baptist Church has grown from around 35 in attendance to nearly 300 every Sunday. He has preached over 2,000 messages including several weeks of annual revival. He has had the honor to baptize approximately 450 people and seen countless precious souls saved. Donnie was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Theology and Divinity by Simmons Theological Seminary, but still believes the greatest teacher any man can have is the Holy Spirit of God when it comes to studying God’s word. “It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor.” -- George Washington 5


Land of the Sky Jubilee Speakers Dr. Craig Edwards Pastor Craig Edwards is the pastor of New Grace Baptist Church in Mount Airy, NC.

Pastor Bob Ferguson Bobby A. Ferguson is a native of Chattanooga, TN. He was saved in 1963 at the age of seventeen. He attended Hiwassee College on a basketball scholarship and then continued his education at Tennessee Wesleyan College. After college, he signed a professional basketball contract with the New York Knicks. He was injured and cut from the team and went back to Chattanooga to teach for six years. In 1970, he surrendered to preach and has pastored in AR, TX, IN, and VA. He is currently pastoring at Gunnings Baptist Church in Blountville, TN. He attended the Stephen Olford Expository Preaching Institute and Pastor Training Institute conducted by Adrian Rogers and received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree. He is married and has five children and twelve grandchildren.

Pastor Zane Fishel Zane Fishel is the Pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, NC, where he has pastored for six years. Pastor Zane was youth director for four years at Temple and was called to pastor after the untimely and tragic death of his father-in-law and mentor Dr. Teague Groce. Pastor Zane just completed his Masters of Arts in Christian Studies, and the church is experiencing a great moving of God in these days. Columbus commission was given to set out to find a new world. According to Columbus personal log, his purpose in seeking undiscovered worlds was to “bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the heathens. It was the Lord who put into my mind that it would be possible to sail from here to the Indies. I am the most unworthy sinner, but I have cried out to the Lord for grace and mercy, and they have covered me completely. No one should fear to undertake any task in the name of our Saviour, if it is just and if the intention is purely for His holy service.� -- 1490-1492

Land of the Sky Jubilee Speakers Attorney David Gibbs, Jr. Attorney David Gibbs, Jr., was born on August 22, 1944. He attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where he received his B.A. and J.D. Attorney Gibbs is the Founder and President of Christian Law Association, a nationwide legal ministry which is dedicated to helping defend Christian liberty in America. Gibbs Law Firm represents over 10,000 ministries nationwide. Attorney Gibbs has appealed and argued before 15 different State Supreme Courts in defense of religious liberty. His Bible preaching ministry includes: free legal defense, free legal counsel, and free legal seminars. He hosts a daily radio program and sends The Legal Alert on nearly 1500 outlets. He also authors and distributes the publication of a monthly newsletter, The Legal Alert. Attorney Gibbs is married to Glorianne and has four children, David III, Sharon, Matthew and Jonathan. He is also the proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Heather, Heidi, David IV, Danielle, Matthew, Jr., and Adam.

Dr. Jody Jenkins Jody Jenkins is pastor of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray, TN. He first surrendered to preach in 1996 at the Temple Baptist Church Youth Conference in Knoxville, TN, under the preaching of Bro. Steve Roberson. After graduating high school, he attended East Tennessee State University on a baseball scholarship. After one year, he left to begin studying for the ministry at Crown College, where he met his wife, Becky. He received his Master and Doctor of Ministry Degree from Bethany Bible College and Seminary. They have two wonderful children. It is their desire to serve the Lord Jesus Christ the rest of their days on this earth.

Pastor Johnny Knight Pastor Johnny Knight, was born March 31, 1943, in the Hog Mountain Community of Gwinnett County, GA.  He is the son of the late Herbert and Pauline (Henderson) Knight.  He is married to the former Judy Lynn Ransom, daughter of Dr. & Mrs. James Ransom of Gainesville, GA.  They have two sons and daughters-in-law and two granddaughters. He accepted Christ as his Savior in a Sunday School class at Hog Mountain Baptist Church on August 21, 1960, and accepted his call into the ministry in February, 1967. Pastor Knight was allowed to pastor two churches  before accepting pastorate of Pond Fork Baptist Church in 1980.  The Lord has allowed him to serve as pastor of Pond Fork for the past 30 years. During this time, God has blessed Pond Fork Baptist Church tremendously! Pastor Johnny says, “There have been good times and bad times, happy times and sad times, but through it all I can truly say I HAVE BEEN BLESSED!” Bro. Johnny is an “old fashioned,” Bible believing, Baptist preacher.  As the Holy Spirit leads Bro. Johnny, and as he leads this flock, our prayer is that we will see much more of the same until the Lord calls us home in the rapture! 7


Land of the Sky Jubilee Speakers Dr. Jack Lemmons Pastor Jack Lemmons was born in Mebane, NC, on November 12, 1944. He married Jean in December 1966, and has been happily married to her since. Jack was saved in May 1968, under the preaching of Evangelist Maze Jackson. Pastor Lemmons surrendered to preach in January 1971, and was ordained into the ministry on April 24, 1977. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Piedmont Baptist Bible College on May 12, 1978. He began his pastorate at McLeansville Baptist Church in October 1985, and still serves there today. He went on to do graduate work at Liberty University. Dr. Harold B. Sightler and Tabernacle Baptist Bible College of Greenville, SC, conferred an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree upon him on May 27, 1994.

Pastor Ross Lewis Pastor Ross Lewis has been preaching and pastoring churches in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina for forty one years. He is currently the pastor of the West Court Street Baptist Church in Marion, NC. We whose names are underwritten do here solemnly in the presence of Jehovah incorporate ourselves into a Body Politic and as He shall help, will submit our persons, lives and estates unto our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and to all those perfect and most absolute laws of His given us in His holy word of truth to be guided and judged thereby. -- 1638 First settlers of Rhode Island made this covenant to organize their new government

Pastor Tad Marshall Growing up in an evangelist’s home, Tad Marshall surrendered to the ministry when he was fourteen years old. During his 21 years as an assistant pastor, Tad had the privilege to work with Dr. Lee Roberson, Tom Sexton and Ralph Sexton before entering the pastorate in 2004. Tad Marshall currently pastors Lakeside Baptist Church in Clearwater, SC. In just two years at Lakeside, there have been over 80 people baptized and 150 new members added to the church. Tad really enjoys the ministry God has given him there, as well as spending time with his wife, Pat, of 27 years and their seven year old son, Tyler.


Land of the Sky Jubilee Speakers Pastor Don Richards Saved as a teenager, Donald Richards began preaching at the age of 18. He has pastored six churches and has been the pastor of Corinth Baptist Church of Loganville, GA, for the past 37 years. Pastor Richards served on the Executive Board of Macedonia World Baptist Missions for 35 years. Having retired in September of 2008 from the MWBM Board, he held the position of President there for 25 years. Pastor Richards is serving as President of Baptist Institute of America and Seminary in Loganville, GA. Having studied and received 16 credit hours at Mercer University, he transferred to and received his B.A. Degree in Bible in 1968 from the Antioch Baptist College in Marietta, GA. In 1985, he received a Master’s Degree from Covington Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1975, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Gwinnett Hall Baptist College. He has also been awarded a Doctor of Religious Education Degree from Trinity Baptist Seminary. Pastor Don and Catherine have been married for 53 years. He and Mrs. Richards have three children. Their son is the Pastor at Gwinnett Hall Baptist Church.

Dr. Steve Roberson Steve Roberson graduated in 1968 from East Forsyth Senior High School in Winston Salem, NC. He attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN, on a basketball scholarship. Four years later he graduated as the all-time leading scorer. Steve then worked for his dad, Dr. Bobby Roberson, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, NC, as youth pastor for 29 years. The teen church there averaged around 700. He now pastors Calvary Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN, which has an average attendance of over 800 per Sunday.

The man God used to begin the Great Awakening that led directly to America becoming one nation under God, said: “We are justified only by faith in Christ , and not by any manner of virtue of goodness of our own…. Christ alone performs the condition of our justification and salvation … Christ suffered the punishment of sin, not as a private person, but as our surety.” Surety is a legal term whereby one person agrees to pay the debts of another. -- Rev. Pastor Robbie Robertson Pastor Robbie Robertson was saved at the age of 5. He is thankful for the Godly heritage that has been afforded him by being born and raised in a Pastor’s home. God has truly blessed him with a wonderful wife of 22 years, Cindy. They have been blessed with three boys, James, Phillip and Jonathan. He surrender to the call to preach in 1997. He is pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Williamston, SC. God has blessed Trinity Baptist Church beyond measure in its nearly 53 years of existence. Under his leadership the church has seen 46 souls saved, 87 people join and 5 people surrender to the ministry. “To God be the glory, great things HE has done!” He has served as Secretary / Treasurer for Greer Baptist Camp Meeting for the past 13 years, where he also serves on the Board of Trustees. Pastor Robbie thanks God for allowing him to have as heroes, men like his Father, Dr. William Robertson, Jr., Dr. Billy Kelly, Dr. Harold Sightler, Dr. Larry Brown, Dr. Jerry Clark, Dr. Melvin Aiken and Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. His life verse is Psalm 19:14 - “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”

Land of the Sky Jubilee Speakers Dr. Clarence Sexton Dr. Clarence Sexton has been the Pastor of Temple Baptist Church of Powell, TN, since August of 1988. The ministries of Temple Baptist Church have advanced steadily under the direction of Clarence Sexton. For many years, Pastor Sexton had a burden to begin a college to train Christian men and women preparing to serve the Lord. This burden became a reality when The Crown College opened in August of 1991. At present, more than 900 students come from every state and several foreign countries to attend the college. The college also has extension campuses in Fort Worth, TX, and Evesham, England. In addition to the work of The Crown College, Pastor Sexton serves as the publisher of The Baptist Vision. He also founded the Mount Moriah Christian Camp. Thousands of young people have attended since its beginning. The 110-acre campus is located only four miles from the church property. Clarence Sexton has been in the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ since 1967. He has written more than forty books and booklets. He speaks in conferences throughout the United States and has conducted training sessions for pastors and Christian workers in several countries around the world. He and his wife, Evelyn, have been married since 1967. They have two grown sons and six grandchildren. 10

Dr. Ralph Sexton Dr. Sexton has been the Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville, NC, since 1988.  One of our Pastor’s passions is old fashioned tent crusades.  To date, he has preached over 50 tent revivals across the southeast.  One of his greatest blessings and personal honors was to be able to set up the tent at the foot of the Washington Monument, in Washington, DC in 1986.  An old fashioned tent meeting right in the middle of our Nation’s Capital! Dr. Sexton is recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts in Bible Prophecy.  In March of 2011, he will celebrate his 40th teaching tour to the Holy Land. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., is married to his lifetime sweetheart, Muzette Thaxton Sexton. They have three adult children... Beverly and her husband Dwight, Mark and his wife Sheri, and Kent and his wife Leigh.  They also have nine grandchildren:  Winston, Savannah, Scarlett, Preston, Sophia, Ian, Lexi, Juliet, and Lola Grace.

Pastor Brent Stancil Brent Stancil served with Dr. Tom Malone, Sr. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pontiac, MI for three years before being called to pastor the Val Verde Baptist Church in Groves, TX, where he served for almost 12 years. He currently serves as pastor of Community Bible Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, FL. In addition, he conducts revival meetings and Bible conferences across America and in several foreign countries. Bro. Brent and his wife, Valerie, have four children - Quinn, Collin, Madeline, and Grant.


Land of the Sky Jubilee Speakers Pastor Danny Sykes Pastor Danny Sykes has been the pastor of the Oak Glen Baptist Church located in Yuma, VA, for the past 29 years. He was sent out of the Gospel Baptist Church of High Point, NC, under the ministry and leadership of Pastor Arthur Blackburn and Pastor Frank Gribble.

Pastor Curtis Turner Dr. Curtis A. Turner is a native of Paulding County, GA. He was saved at the age of 9 at Second Baptist Church in Dallas, GA. He was called to preach at the age of 12 and had preached in every neighboring state bordering Georgia before he had his driver’s license. Brother Curtis was drafted by the Atlanta Braves as a catcher right out of high school. He met his wife, Pam, while preaching a revival in Cartersville, GA. They have been married for 37 years. Bro. Curtis and Pam have two sons, Andy and Cody. They have five grandchildren. Brother Curtis received his Doctorate of Divinity from Victory Baptist College in North August, SC in 2001. Dr. Turner has served as Collegiate Counselor and Bible teacher at Victory Bible College for many years.

Pastor Roy Yelton Pastor Roy Yelton was saved in the bedroom of his home on June 14, 1970, some 39 years ago last month. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Bible from Graham Bible College in Bristol, TN. He has been a full-time Pastor for over 37 years and has been the Pastor of Oakland Ave. Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN, for 3 years. He is married to his wife of 44 years, Patricia, and has three sons all of whom graduated from King College in Bristol, TN. His 40 year old son, Todd, resides in Birmingham, AL, and is married to Shanna. His 34 year old son, Matthew, is married to Tamara and resides in Cleveland, TN, and his 32 year old son, Jeremy, resides in Birmingham, AL. He has four wonderful grandchildren, Mackenzie, Colin, Addison and Aden. Pastor Yelton says, “The Lord has blessed me mightily all these many years.”

He has been a full time pastor for the past 30 years and has just celebrated his 43rd year in the ministry. At the present time he is the Pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Dallas, GA. 11

AMERICA’S HERITAGE ARE WE A CHRISTIAN NATION?

America has lost the roots of its heritage. What are those mysterious principles discovered by the Founding Fathers that made this a great country, envied by so many that millions endured hardship to enter and gain the freedoms, safety and opportunities found here and almost nowhere else on earth? The answers, two generations ago, were taught with pride to every child in home, school and church. But somehow we have lost our way. It is imperative that we retrace our steps, learn how we became lost and recapture our inheritance through knowledge and dedication. However, the United States of America is a Christian Nation. Our Declaration of Independence and Constitution are based on Judeo-Christian teachings. The textbook of these teachings is the Holy Bible. It is the “Owner’s Manual” or “The Book of Instructions” for our nation. The Founding Fathers and many others in position of authority ever since have recertified that fact. “America is a Christian Nation.” This does not mean that all the people were or are Christians. It merely means that there was a Christian consensus and all our founding documents, laws, moral codes and institutions are based on Christian principles from the Bible. To know the Christian basis of our country is to learn what every schoolboy and girl learned two generations ago about the writings and early documents executed by those who built the greatest nation in all history. 1620 - The Mayflower Compact written by the Pilgrims before they got off the Mayflower said: “In the presence of God, Amen. We do by these presents solemnly and mutually in ye presence of God, and one another, covenant and combine ourselves into a civil body politic.”

1638 - The Fundamental Orders of Connecticut (often called the first American Constitution) said, We “enter into a combination and confederation together to maintain and preserve the liberty and purity of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ which we now profess.” It also stated for the first time that men’s rights come from God, as later stated in the Declaration of Independence. The Great Law of Pennsylvania Colony said, “ Whereas the glory of Almighty God and the good of mankind is the reason and the end of government and therefore government itself is a venerable ordinance of God.” 1772 Samuel Adams “The right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty. The rights of the colonists as Christians may be best understood by reading and carefully studying the institutes of the great Law Giver which are to be found clearly written and promulgated in the New Testament.” 1776 The Declaration of Independence says: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men.” 1777 The First Continental Congress appropriated funds to import for the people 20,000 Holy Bibles as “the great political textbook of the patriots.” 1787 The Constitution was written to “secure the Blessings of Liberty.” George Washington said regarding the Constitution: “Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the event is in the hand of God.”


Thomas Jefferson, on his memorial: “God who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that the liberties are the gift of God.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” At an impasse of several weeks at the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin rose and said:, “I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can arise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this.” He then moved they resort to prayer. Washington’s Inaugural Address: “The propitious smiles of heaven cannot be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which heaven itself has ordained.” All inaugural addresses and state constitutions refer to Almighty God, the author and sustainer of our liberty. 1789 Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation: “ Whereas, it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits and humbly to implore His protection and favor.” 1797 Washington’s Farewell Address: “and let us with caution indulge the supposition the morality can be maintained without religion.” Patrick Henry: “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.” John Quincy Adams: “The first and almost the only Book deserving of universal attention is the Bible.” The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: “It connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.”

1789-1795 John Jay, first chief justice of the United States: “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” 1843 Emma Willard, educator and historian: “The government of the United States is acknowledged by the wise and good of other nations, to be the most free, impartial and righteous government of the world; but all agree that for such a government to be sustained many years, the principles of truth and righteousness, taught in the Holy Scriptures, must be practiced. The rulers must govern in the fear of God, and the people obey the laws. A nation cannot exist without religion. France tried and failed. We were born a Protestant Christian nation, and as such, baptized in blood. Our position ought to be defined as that.” 1861 Abraham Lincoln: “It is the duty of all nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.” 1863 Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg address: “ That we here highly resolve that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.” 1892 The Supreme Court of the United States after citing 87 precedents decided: “Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of Mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise: and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian. This is a religious people. This is historically true. From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation we find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth. These and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation.”

1982 Oct 4, 1982, Joint Resolution of Congress: “Whereas the Bible, the Word of God, has made a unique contribution in shaping the United States as a distinctive and blessed nation of people. Whereas Biblicial teachings inspired concepts of civil government that are contained in our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States, Whereas that renewing our knowledge of, and faith in God through Holy Scriptures can strengthen us as a nation and a people. Now therefore be it resolved that the President is authorized and requested to designate 1983 as a national “Year of the Bible” in recognition of both the formative influence the Bible has been for our nation, and our national need to study and apply the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.” 1983 February 3, 1983 - President Ronald Regan issued the above requested proclamation. President George Bush declared 1990 to be the international year of Bible reading. Considering the small sampling of evidence presented, it is no wonder that our motto: “In God We Trust” is found on all our coinage, engraved on walls of both houses of Congress, and that every session begins with a prayer by its chaplain, that a prayer room is in the Capitol with a glass window depicting Washington in prayer surrounded by a quotation of Psalms 16:1. The Ten Commandments are emblazoned on the wall in the Supreme Court just over the head of the Chief Justice as a symbol of the source of all our laws. Biblicial quotations are etched on and in the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Library of Congress and many other official buildings. Our Pledge of allegiance is to the flag of “One Nation Under God”. Surely, with even these few stated facts, no intellectually honest person can deny that our nation exists on the bedrock of biblical Christianity and has so prospered.

ubilee 2010 - the 41st Anniversary of this wonderful time of worship and refreshing. This is also a wonderful year for me personally, if the Lord allows us to live until November 26th... Polly and I will celebrate our 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary. Polly and I were saved together in Ralph and Jackie’s living room on Brevard Road at 10:00am on a Saturday morning in August 1961. We were arrested by the Holy Spirit and began this journey of faith. I would like to honor her for faithfully standing by me and God’s work. God has been so good and faithful over the years to provide our every need. Our one great desire is that the gospel be preached, and we rejoice in the ongoing ministry of Trinity Baptist Church and its worldwide outreach. I often think of the wonderful friends I have made on this journey; it has been a glorious trip. In this day of uncertain economic and political events in our land, we find comfort in the word of God, His presence and fellow soldiers and pilgrims. Larry Spears played music in bars and night clubs for many years before giving his life to Christ. He had opportunities to play with several Nashville artists, including Loretta Lynn. He landed a job to tour with Ronnie Milsap and Jeannie Sealy, but chose to move to Columbia SC and begin the life of attending church and raising a family instead. He then began to travel and play guitar for the great evangelist Billy Kelly and met some of the greatest preachers in the world, including Ralph Sexton Sr. & Jr. Larry traveled with Brother Billy to the Jubilee in the late 70’s and early 80’s not knowing that God in His time would make him a member of the Trinity Baptist Church family. The Lord blessed Larry and allowed him to do his hearts desire by helping missionaries, local gospel groups and song writers record their music at a local facility with a truly professional quality of sound.

My First Land of the Sky Jubilee I grew up an hour away from Asheville in Sylva but have been familiar with the Land of the Sky Jubilee from a child. The year was 1974 (I was 3 Years old), it was my first time attending the Land of the Sky Jubilee. The Church was filled to capacity, I don’t remember but that’s what my parents told me. They were standing outside watching the service on television when they noticed I had wandered away. They starting to look for me and then they spotted me on the television, I had somehow made it to the platform and Ralph Sr. was holding me on his lap. Ralph Sr. had some of the same attributes as our Savior, he had spotted a lost lamb and he picked me up and held me safely in his arms. As we celebrate the 41st Land of the Sky Jubilee let’s join together and pray God will Rule and Reign in all the services and in our hearts and lives. To Him be all the Glory and Honor.
