September ushers in two great events for Taylor Road. On September 11, we will have a Community-Wide Service of Hope and Remembrance held at Landmark Church on Halcyon Blvd at 6:30 PM. The churches of the community will gather together to offer hope and remember that fatal day in September, 2001. All Military, Police, Fire, and Medical personnel are being requested to attend in uniform. The cost for entrance will be a canned food item at the door that will be donated to the Montgomery Area Food Bank. The blood bank will also be on location from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. You will not want to miss this great Service of Hope and Remembrance. The second event is “Back to Church” Sunday, September 11 here at Taylor Road. Ken Freeman will be our guest speaker that morning. You will not want to miss this unusual character of a man. Once before when Ken came to my former church, we had a high attendance night and if we reached our goal then my barber was there to cut a cross in my hair on the back of my head. We reached the goal. I did say unusual, didn’t I? Ken is a strong believer in the Word of God and communicates well with all ages; however, he is like a 50 something adolescent so you might need to prepare yourself. Please invite your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc. because it will be a message you will never forget. Read more details about some of the other things happening that day on page 7. Finally, I would like to say a huge hallelujah to God for Tim’s arrival and the way God is using him in my life as we worship together. God is working powerfully in the church and the community to make known His wonderful grace. O What a Savior,

Well, as I write this article, all of our students are back in school. With a new school year, comes great opportunities to be a light at your school. One of those opportunities, is See You at the Pole. Some of the things that make SYATP special are that students from around the country are able to gather publicly and pray for

The Music Ministry of Taylor Road Baptist Church is proud to announce the start of our fall session for the graded music program, this past Sunday, August 28. It’s not too late to get involved though! Classes start promptly at 5:30 p.m. each Sunday and parents are strongly encouraged to pick up their young musician no later than 6:15 p.m. The following grades are included: 4 & 5 year olds: April Dozier (lead instructor), Jason Till 1st – 3rd grade: Tracy Johnson (lead instructor), Betty Gallops, Lynn Williams 4th – 6th grade: Jessica Gamble (lead instructor), Duane Kinsaul, Tom Hetrick

* Their school administration * For students to be bold in their prayers and in their witnessing * That non-Christians might be brought to Jesus * That Christian students would be strengthened in their unity on campus * And anything else that is on each student’s heart

Taylor Road Baptist Church also has a Youth Praise Band that has already been working hard to learn how to play instruments and sing various songs to aid in worship each Wednesday evening. Please pray for them as they work to create chemistry and discipline themselves to lead.

Just like other events we do, there is nothing magical about See You at the Pole itself. The hope and prayer of all that are involved is that the students joining together to pray on September 28 would continue to pray for these things year round. The theme this year is CONVERGE and the theme verse is Matthew 18:20. Please be in prayer for our students as they take a stand on their campuses and seek God's face in beginning a new year of school.

There are also musical opportunities for adults at Taylor Road Baptist Church. The Adult Choir rehearses regularly on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the choir suite and leads in worship each Sunday Morning at 10:30 a.m. The Accompaniment Team rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. We are currently recruiting for wind (flute, sax, etc.) and stringed (violin, cello, etc.) instrument players. We hope to add a brass player later. The TRBC Bell ringers have also started rehearsals. They meet each Sunday evening at 4:15 p.m. in room B202.

Another event coming up in October with our area FCA is Fields of Faith. More information will be coming about this student led worship opportunity. Last year, more than 800 students converged on Trinity's football field for a night of testimony and worship.

If you were in service this past Sunday, August 28, you couldn’t help but notice one large change, the “Taylor Road Minute”. This idea has floated around for quite some time about the need to stream line our announcment time, but also find a way to catch and hold everyones attention. A lot of thought, prayer and study of what other churches similar to Taylor Road throughout the country were doing went into the decision to begin pre-filming our announcement time. Yes, it definitely requires more time, preparation and effort to do it this way, but we feel you’re worth it! Plus, we as a staff know that it is so important to make sure we do an excellent job in making sure you know what is going on around the church.

Available in the church office and in the Grand Foyer on Sunday Mornings starting September 11.

You’ll see in the second edition this Sunday that each “Taylor Road Minute” will be unique, hosted by different staff members and Taylor Road family each week. If you’re interested in being a part and hosting the minute one week, contact me, and I will get you scheduled!

FREE childcare will be provided for children from birth to age 12. You MUST sign up when you purchase a ticket. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Media Ministry volunteers, don’t forget that Sunday, September 18, we will have a pot-luck lunch in the fellowship hall following morning worship. Please bring your families for lunch, then volunteers stay for a meeting time afterward.

Deadline is September 25.

‘Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom’ Psalms 90:12 The changing colors and falling leaves of September remind us that, in the scope of eternity, our lives on this earth are a mere breath. As we travel to our eternal home, may we pray with the psalmist? I would like to share that children of Graffiti 2 Church after school ministry in South Bronx have been sent 5 large boxes of school supplies. This is a result of the VBS mission project. To add to all the supplies that were collected by our children, a check for $449.32 was also sent to add to their ministry. The remaining $110.00 was used to mail the large boxes. Thanks to all, who worked to make this mission project a huge success.

School is back in full swing and so are our regularly scheduled church programs. We hope that your family is getting settled into your school year routines, and we hope that you will make worship, prayer, Bible study and Student memory a part of that routine. Here is a brief reminder of our regularly-scheduled activities:Summer Events

August

Sunday: 9:09 a.m.- Sunday School- Bring your child to a time of fun, games, fellowship and grade-based Bible study. 5:30 p.m.- Children’s Choir- Your children will learn what it means to truly worship while working on their yearly musicals. This year we will also be re-instituting snack supper. Tuesday: 6:00 p.m.- Outreach- Yes, this can be a family event. Why not pick out a Tuesday to bring one of your children with you to outreach to make some phone calls or even a visit? This can be a great time for your children to see that your faith is real to you and worth sharing. Wednesday: 6:00 p.m.- Bible Drill for grades 4, 5 and 6 - Your child will learn how to navigate the Bible, Key Bible passages and where to find passages on various topics. This is also a great opportunity for you to memorize along with your children throughout this year. 6:30 p.m.- AWANA- “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” is the AWANA acronym, and in this time kids will learn how to “rightly divide the Word of Truth.” Children will be challenged to memorize Biblical Truth and Scriptures while also learning about the Cooperative Program, and how it works with missionaries to take the Gospel down the street and around the world. Finally, we want to leave you with a project that we have been working on in our home (or car- to be more exact). We are trying to see “car time” as “prayer time.” This was really suggested to me by the Headmaster at William’s school. Every morning on the way to school when we get to the stop sign at the end of our street, William and I pray for the day at school. We pray specifically for our own attitudes and actions throughout the day, for William’s teachers and administration and for the administration I am under. We also do this as a family whenever we are on our way to church, praying for the church leadership specifically by name. Sometimes Joseph talks throughout the prayer, but more often than not it works out. It has also done a lot to change our attitudes toward the start of each new day. So, feel free to give it a try in your family then let us know how God uses that time in your family. May Christ be the center of your home (and car),
