Periodical Postage Paid Montgomery,

From Pastor Andy... The first time I remember doing a job that paid money was when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Our family owned several acres near Auburn University with a few houses on the property that were rented to students. My job was to cut these acres, over a number of days, with a 20-inch push mower. When I finished, my dad paid me the grand sum of $10. It goes without saying – I did learn the value of a dollar earned. A dollar earned and the benefits of everyone working together are valuable lessons in life, especially in church. Right now, we are approaching the first anniversary of a program entitled Finish the Task. Finishing the task is so much easier if everyone participates and if everyone pulls together to accomplish the purpose. The plan is to sell a small piece of land on the far east side of the church property. Then, the debt will be manageable, the budget will pay the interest, and money received for the building program, Finish the Task, will be used to lower the principal on the present note with the bank. Right now we are using the backup plan, where everything given is going to pay the interest on the loan. Not the ideal, but I do believe that God will sell His property, in His time, to His buyer. Every family giving something is the goal. Certainly, many have had to make adjustments in spending because of the present economic situation; but, many have chosen to start giving to Finish the Task. Every gift is important, no matter how great or small. With all of us pulling together we are able to utilize the new Worship Center and Music and Fellowship Suites for God’s Kingdom work. God is great and God is good; we thank Him for the way He blesses our lives during these economic times. If you are not on board with Finish the Task, then, please get on board. You can begin by praying for the sale of the land and then join with those who are already giving to this worthy task for the glory of God. The key is that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to His power working in you! All aboard,

Andy -

1) Have you signed up for the weekly email message “What’s Happening at Taylor Road?” If not, visit www.taylorroad.org/ whatshappening to enter your email address so that you can begin receiving information about each week’s hot topics. This weekly update is sent on each Thursday.

3) Do you need to look at the Church Calendar? Our most recent communications addition is the online church calendar. This was a big undertaking and has required us, including the staff, to adapt to a different method. The online, digital strategy allows access to the official church calendar at this link: www.TaylorRoad.org/calendar. You can always see what is going on here. If you are trying to plan an event, you can check to see if the building is available on your date of choice. You cannot make additions or changes, but you can submit information for consideration by following the directions at the top of the page.

GUATEMALA MISSION TRIP

As more methods of communication come available, we want to select and develop the most effective ways to communicate with you. Occasionally, we add new methods; and sometimes we need to eliminate something that has been around for a while that has served its purpose. With that in mind, let me remind you of three (3) recent additions:

2) Do you use Facebook? On the Web, you can enter “Taylor Road Baptist Church” in your search box and become a “fan” of the church. While in Facebook, you can view photos and videos from recent TRBC-sponsored activities and events. Plus, you can use it as an easy way to locate and communicate with all your friends from church!

Sunday, September 6, at 5:30 p.m. Make plans now to join your church family and friends for a lot of fun, great fellowship, and fabulous food! We will have a great fried fish meal with all the trimmings, some recreational activities for the entire family to enjoy, and an informal worship time together. The cost will be the same as our Wednesday night meals – $5.00 per adult, $3.00 for children and a $20.00 maximum per immediate family. Standing reservations do not apply. Call the Church Office not later than September 3 to make your reservations.

We have a wonderful opportunity to partner with the Alabama State Board of Missions and the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to take part in Gospel Outreach in Guatemala. We need a team of 8 to 12 people who are willing to go and share the Gospel through door-to-door evangelism. The team will work with one our international missionaries on the field and will have an opportunity to attend a worship service with the Guatemalan people. The goal of this trip is to build relationships for the purpose of starting a new church plant. The per person cost of approximately $1,300 will cover airfare (from Atlanta) food, lodging, and transportation while in Guatemala. Contact Dean Finch at 271-3363 for more information about this opportunity for missions service.

A Choir for Everyone!!! Every church member who likes to sing is encouraged to become a part of one of the choir programs at Taylor Road Baptist Church. Adult Choir – The Adult Choir is getting started on a Christmas Musical/Drama that is being written by our own David Givens. We will all be inspired by this story and the new music that has been made available to us. We practice each week 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. in the Choir Suite and need about 15 new members to join us as we begin work on this project. We practice each song several weeks before we sing it, and we even provide listening CDs to help you learn your part. Student Choir / Ignite – This is a new choir open to all students in Grades 7-12. The group meets on Sunday afternoons, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. We are working together to select music to sing on Sunday mornings and evenings and I look forward to building a solid group of students who like to sing. Our first time to sing is on Sunday, September 13, and we are looking forward to an exciting time together. Come, sing with us! Preschool and Children’s Choirs – These choirs meet on Sundays, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. Every child, Age 3 through Grade 6, needs to be a part of one of these choirs. This is the age when talent is discovered and children learn so much by doing. Our children’s choirs are led by some incredible teachers, Tracy Johnson and Cindy Smith. The children will learn a lot about God and music while having fun every Sunday afternoon. The Children’s Choir has already selected a Christmas musical, The First Day of Christmas, and will be working on it this fall along with other music. Please get involved now so you can keep up with this exciting project.
